DS, I had nightmares last night about BOWS taking over my house!
Sorry surfgirl - I didn''t mean to traumatize anyone.

What a great thread! Thanks for your hard work posting it all.

Do you have any close ups of Camilla''s emerald cut engagement ring and stats on it? While also not a Camilla fan, I have heard she has an emerald cut ring and I love step cuts!

Thanks for the photo! Step cuts are hard to photograph but that cut does not look so great. I kinda like the ring.

Ahhh! Camilla''s ring. I happen to really like the ring and greatly resent that it doesn''t reside on my finger! LOL!

Let''s try that photo again:

The ring is from the 1920''s art deco period and is another of the massive hoarde of jewels that Prince Charles inherited from the Queen Mother. So the ring has been in the Royal Family for awhile and there are photos of the Queen Mum wearing it.

The ring is set in platinum and has a large antique square/emerald cut diamond in the center and is flanked by three baguette cuts on either side.

I don''t really like it. It looks too dark and dull. Thanks for sharing! This is becoming my favorite thread and thanks for the info on the royal families!!!

Ugh - not liking my photos today! Let''s try again:

This is a ring I''d like to see in person because as Skippy pointed out it does look dark in the photos....

I think I''ve read somewhere that the center stone is 5ct.

I like the fact that the ring is a historic family ring. Prince Charles is a bit obsessed with this aspect of his relationship with Camilla since she is the great grand-daughter of Alice Keppel who was the mistress of Edward VII. Prince Charles has been buying up any of Alicce Keppel''s jewels that come on the market in order to give them to Camilla.

The Dutch Royals are on a State Visit to India this week. I am calling this tour "The Peculiar Hat Tour". Here is Queen Beatrix in a very strange double hat thing. Weird. But I do love her pin/brooch.

Queen Beatrix - this time sans hat but wearing an interesting set of amethyst (?) beads.

Maxima enteres the weird hat stakes with this orange number. I think her earrings are either citrines or spesserite garnets.

Queen Beatrix at a State Dinner wearing an amazing sapphire set. Here you can see the earrings and brooch.

Here''s a shot where you can see the whole set of the Queen''s sapphires - check out that ring!!

Abetter shot of Maxima''s earring and brooch. I think they are diamonds with possibly some brown diamonds in there - nice!

Back to daytime events on the State Visit to India and out come the weird hats again. Queen Beatrix paired hers with a set of citrines and diamonds.

Maxima can''t let her mother-in-law get ahead in the weird hat race so she whipped out this creation. Nice earrings though - maybe black jet or onyx at the top?

And lastly, Maxima and Queen Beatrix in relatively normal hats. I think that the Queen is wearing some aquamarine beads, possibly topaz?

One thing that was nice about this visit was that it really showed the great relationship that Maxima has with her mother-in-law. They appeared together at many of the events and really worked well in tandem. It''s nice to see Royals that get along and share their jobs and the spotlight so well!

Hope you have enjoyed the Dutch State Visit to India.

Wow, that hat shot two above this post looks like someone accidentally ate a turban at last night's state dinner and crapped it out on her head. Wow. Just.Wow. So very wrong.

As my grandma would have said (she was in the millinery business for many years), "What's with that schmatta on her head?!?"

I stand by my comments that Maxima needs a make over. The blush looks terrible and she does not accentuate her features.
