I stand by my comments that Maxima needs a make over. The blush looks terrible and she does not accentuate her features.

She does lay it on a bit thick sometimes.

I think that impression is heightened by the fact that the photos were all taken at night in a rather dark room & the ring has an antique cut. All of which will tone down bling. But I''m betting it''s not above a G. In the art deco period they tended to use stones with more color in them anyway.

It would be interesting to see in person....I personally have found that a lot of diamonds with a little color can give some of the best fire!

That''s because I''ve been royalty obsessed ever since I got up super early as a kid to watch Lady Di walk down the aisle.

Before that I didn''t even know that there were still Kings and Queens left anywhere! I''m pretty sure that this is what led me to become a historian and I know it''s to blame for my rampant case of Anglophilia!

So I follow all of this stuff more closely than any human being really should. My family keeps pestering me to write a book. I''m sure I will someday!

In my opinion Camilla could compete with any of them. Remember that Camilla was once young, and that it was then that she and Prince Charles fell in love. She loved him when Lady Diana was still in the nursery.

There was an old photo of Camilla when she was much younger and I must admit she was a stunner, blonde with big eyes. I cannot recall where I saw the photo, but she was so lovely, it made me a bit sad to see how she has aged.

Nebe, no...but it was from around that time. Her hair was down, and she had it back from her face with a band I think. She was not smiling, it looked like a portrait and I think it was from her dance when she was about 16...if I recall she was wearing a strapless dress, but this was so long ago I do not recall.

You are right--it was an unfair characterization of her. Rather poor attempt at humor. I apologize if I caused any offense, when in truth, I do think she is attractive.

Everyone has their own opinion on what is attractive or not. I think that as long as our comments are good-natured then it''s okay to criticize. We won''t all agree all the time. No big deal.

I personally don''t find Camilla all that attractive but I don''t think she''s ugly either. I can definitely understand why she appeals to Prince Charles more than Diana did. Camilla is just more his kind of woman. She probably is great company. Probably a great one to have at a house party! I really, really don''t approve of her actions in cheating with a married man but honestly I think Camilla takes too much of the blame for that. At least 50% ought to go to Charles and maybe some to Diana as well.

And it''s not going to offend me if anyone disagrees.

This is Queen Sofia of Spain at the same banquet dinner. I really like her flower tiara - it goes well with the flower motif on her dress. I could do without the bow brooch though. It''s too young a look for the Queen I think.

Letizia wore the same tiara on her wedding day. I think it looks better with the veil than it does alone. Doesn''t Letizia look gorgous in her wedding dress? And nice diamond and aqua earrings as well.
