Hello, I'm interested in sourcing a red Rubellite Tourmaline for a ring. Would anyone care to suggest places to source a good quality stone? Recommendations on what to look out for when choosing a stone? And of course, any photos you may have of said gems.

Thanks so much

This is mine, custom cut by Jeff White a few years ago, about 9mm.

If you are opened to the idea of custom work and related T&Cs, then would advise reaching out to him to see if he has any suitable roughs in his vast inventory.

Personally, for a Rubellite and CS in general), colour was (still is) probably the most important consideration, followed by clarity, then the cut.

It has yet to be set, however I am hoping to set it before the year is out.

That is gorgeous DK! Thanks for sharing.
May I ask, do you find it faces up more raspberry/pinkish in real.life vs the more red in Jeff White's shot? Thanks so much

It is definitely more raspberry in real life than his glamour shot.

I cannot remember seeing the rough before it was cut. I just browsed the galleries in his website, and informed him the colour I was looking for by cutting and pasting the stones I liked in an e-mail, stipulating no brown/orange, the shape I wanted (a round), and left the rest to him.

He is pretty good in interpreting my colour requirements as demonstrated in subsequent CS projects I have had with him. I believe it helps that I know what I like/dislike in colours.

This is mine. Vendor pic of the loose stone and my pics of the stone set in a ring. Mine is magenta pink, so not what you are looking for. Bought mine from Gemfix and loved the experience. Gemfix is a great vendor but they only provide 2 pics of each stone. One of the loose stone and one on the back of a hand.
