I had a very busy holiday, and we made some great progress on our wedding plans! We met with the priest who will be officiating, and although it was awkward since we still don''t know him that well, we are making progress there. He also gave us the booklet that has the songs and readings to choose from and a form to fill out for all the other decisions we will need to make.
We had our tasting for our menu and narrowed down our choices. We weren''t sure if we were going to do chicken and fish or chicken and beef, but the only fish we could agree that people would like was NOT very good. It was a baked English codd, and it had this weird flavoring on top that no one liked. Plus, the beef, which is braised short ribs, was mouth watering good, so we are happy with that decision. We also started nailing down reception details like decorations, timing, head table, etc.
As I posted, my mom and I went dress shopping, and she found a dress she likes. I showed it to my future mother-in-law, and I''m not sure what to make of her reaction. She is definitely more traditional than my mom. She asked me what she should be looking for, and I thought she was referring to that ettiquete rule that the MOB sets the tone, and I mentioned it, and she seemed really taken aback that there was such a rule. Then when I mentioned that my mother didn''t like the traditional beaded MOB dress and jacket, she said she hadn''t seen much else available. I got the feeling the look of beaded dress/jacket is what she wants, but is afraid that I or my mom would not approve, which we totally wouldn''t. As long as she feels comfortable, I will be happy with whatever she chooses. But I tend to read too much into my relationship with the future mil, so I could just be doing that again.
We compiled a guest list for the rehersal dinner, and came up with a whopping 100 estimate, so now we are trying to find a restruant to accomodate such a crowd. We haven''t had any luck yet.
We asked our flower girl to officially be a flower girl! It was such fun! We had been putting it off till Christmas since her mom didn''t want her excited about it all year. Before she opened her Christmas presents, we all gathered around and said she had a special present, and took pictures as we asked her and her face just lit up with joy! I''m so excited to have her as part of our wedding (and family!)
We also asked our cousins to be program passer-outers, alter servers, readers, etc.
Finally, I had a bridesmaid help me take pics of me in my dress with my veil because I''m still not sure if I like it or want a shorter one. I will post pics as soon as I can get my camera to work.
Whew! All that was in between seeing all my family members for the holiday! No wonder I feel like I need a break still!
