Where do you ladies buy your well made sapphire and diamond eternity bands? Thank you in advance for your input. I saw blue Nile, IDJ, BGD, Gabriel and Co, Beverly K, Etsy..which do you recommend since sapphires are involved they are most likely treated beyond heat I presume like tiffany?

Since such small stones are too expensive for even lab briefs, I would presume heated at best, diffused at worst. Just go for something not overly dark and good workmanship.

And don't overpay simply because there's sapphires in there! Like Chrono said, they're likely to be treated, and I think mostly likely diffused since there needs to be matching colors.

Should I like into sourcing my own colored stones and going custom? Obviously a more expensive alternative. Any opinions on all rounds vs alternating shapes? I will do bezel since prongs will dig into the solitaire..

If you're against diffused stones, you could go that way, but small stones are still unlikely to have lab reports associated with them.

incidentally, i was just wondering this! I want an eternity (or a modified one, based on bluenile's garland design http://www.bluenile.com/garland-diamond-eternity-ring-platinum_7823), and I want the sapphires to be green.

where's a good place to source sapphire melee?

Good luck with the search, Fancygems! I hope you report back on what you get :D I love the look of alternating stones, but I think it also depends very much on how your ering looks! I feel like all-rounds make an eternity look more classic.

Missing out the important "in" changes the meaning completely.

Yes, this might end up being a more expensive alternative and shape is a personal preference. Bezel will be smoother but harder to execute well in such small stones (because a bench who isn't skilled with bezels tends to make it thicker which covers more of the stone than it should). A well made prong set eternity should not eat into the solitaire setting unless you are going with 2 sided or 3 sided pave.

It is always best to have the jeweller source the melees for you. The risk with supplying your own melees is much the same as buying individual stone x quantity of stones because not all stones in a parcel will match well and you may end up paying for multiple shipping/returns until you get what you want.

Fancygems, I was trying to snoop around the sort of jewelry you were into - and were you thinking of matching it to your sapphire?

if it's for a simple shank like that, then I like the second option best, i.e. the two sapphires alternating with three diamonds..

I actually really LOVE the last option (keeping it for my own gallery :naughty: ) but I think it might be a bit complicated if you're wearing it with a plain shank ring. maybe if you had pave on the ring, it would match better. also, I love the milgrain!!

Hi Sony,
Yes I actually have the the setting and sapphire with the jeweler being set as we speak, it is a hand fabricated setting as well a signed piece so I wanted a well made, quality band to sit next to it. My taste is very simple solitaires and traditional three stones, I do like classic pieces very much. Thank you for your opinion, I appreciate it!

Have you tried on similar bands as you showed to find out whether it feels comfortable to you? The disadvantage with custom work is that it is non-returnable and non-refundable.

Hi Chrono!
No I have not:( yes I do fear disappointment, thank you for the word of caution.

I called a for a quote on the Gabriel and co band, the PS vendor said since the band is not manufactured by them they cannot guarantee the quality or color quality of the sapphires, the diamonds are listed as si3-1 yikes! I know they are tiny, but how could they sparkle? Blue Nile lists their stones in their band as Si2 as does Joe Escobar which I assume can be upgraded since ID jewelry allows psers to request upgraded diamonds. Maybe I would be better off with BGD since they use nice diamonds in their bands? I don't want to have to worry about the color of the sapphires I'm addition to the quality of diamonds being used.

If you are picky about your diamonds, then I'd go with BGD. I've heard that IDJ can provide nice looking diamonds (although not of the calibre of BGD) if you request it specifically.

Chrono,
Your right, I agree they are probably my best option. Thanks again!

I visited a high end jeweler in Beverly Hills and was able to try on lots of bands, thank you
For that recommendation Chrono. I definitely preferred all rounds vs alternating shapes. I thought the one pointer stacking bands were too dainty, so I received a quote from BGD for three pointers in their round alternating sapphire and diamond bezel band. The other option I was thinking was having a seven stone shared prong one made by BGD like tiffany in three or five pointers, but the other would go all the way around..

Option 1: 3 pointer eternity with alternating bezel set round diamonds and round sapphires
Option 2: 3 or 5 pointer eternity with shared prong set round sapphires

Did I get this correct?
