Do any of you follow Jeff Davies on Facebook? He just recut a horribly windowed 10.24 sapphire and asked his followers to guess the shape and final weight. Whoever came closest won a 5.29 precision cut rose amethyst. Here are the before and after pictures. I'll let you guess the final weight too and will post it later. Or you can find him on FB and see it too.

7.23 carats LOL

Impossible to make an educated guess with no frame of reference. Too bad he didn't place it beside a quarter or something :(

He didn't even give us the measurements. We only had the starting weight and even had to guess the final style of cut (cushion, oval, emerald, round, or asscher). His only clues were that he was cutting for beauty and the loss would be brutal. Of course the scale is not the same in those two photos.

And he hadn't even started the recut when he posted the "before" picture. It took a week before he announced the final weight.

I thought you guys would have more fun with this. Oh well, here's the final answer.

Jeff is pretty popular around here, so I'm guessing there were a lot of people (myself included) who didn't play because we already knew the answer!

Haha yes, I played on facebook too. I guessed cushion, 7.25 or something like that. Super off -_-
