Thank you, gemgirl! I understand what you mean about having a soft spot for padparadschas. I love that delicate mix of pink and orange. I hadn't even heard of this stone before joining PS and reading Traveling Gal's thread on her pad ring... and then I was hooked . It was my first colored gemstone purchase, and was supposed to be my last !

Steven's workmanship on this ring is flawless. I wish I could have gotten better close-up pics. You really can't go wrong if you ask him to do your wedding set reset.

But, I would have guessed that B&N stands for Barnes and Noble!
Really, I like the idea of the babies' initialls. For us it would be S & K, which can also stand for DH and me. (Ideas...PS is always giving me new ideas...!)

Haha! Yes, B & N seem to stand for a few things... Barnes and Noble, Blue Nile, BabyNurse...but in this case it's for my boys "Ben and Noah". Cool that your children's initials are also yours and DH's.

This little baby has actually recently turned 3! I received 2 stones as "push presents" when he was a little over 1-- a round blue sapphire and an oval padpardascha. The blue I had set last summer and then this pad about 3 weeks ago.

It really is beautifully made and I chose a halo setting to "beef up" the stone a bit. I'm very pleased .

I'm glad you have connections with people who can actually look at blue sapphires for you. I live in a very beautiful area but it's in the middle of nowhere so I rely a lot on the internet. My first two gemstone purchases were gifts from my husband to celebrate the birth of our second son. One was a round blue sapphire which I had set last summer and the other was this pad sapphire (steven Kirsch)that I just posted. My search for those stones brought me to PS and then to Richard Wise. They're such tough stones to find and I left the search up to him. Ultimately I was delighted, but if you know a person or two who can keep an eye out for you, eventually you're bound to find what your looking for. They're such spectacular gems-- well worth the wait
