School me on Diamonds

Hey all I''m new to this forum.

I''m 21 years old, and I''ve been with my boyfriend for 5 years. Boy is he smart, he''s enlisted me to help him find the perfect diamond.. the one I''ve dreamt of. HAHA.. if only it was that easy. I''m here looking for some help, suggestions and possibly a tutor! hehe

I''m so completely in love with Pear shapes and Rounds are a close second. I''ve been looking at something around 1 carat. Our price range is about 3,500. What are my options? Any suggestions.. any help would be very welcomed and more than appreciated. I''m familiar with the 4 C''s but I''m afraid my knowledge is rather limited past that...

Wow I''m overwhelmed... haha. Still excited though... just still very inexperienced with all this.

Someone please tell me how reasonable some of this is.. in my price range (some where in the 3 1/2 g''z area)

I''m in the NYC area so I''ll be taking a trip to the Diamond District and cut out the middle man. I''m still a bit nervous that I''ll get ripped off. But the "knowledge" area really is a big help.

If you are going to the diamond district I highly recommend making an appt. to meet with Mark T at Engagement rings Direct. The diamond district can be very risky and going with a trusty vendor like Mark would be the route I would take. you could also try to make the short trip to Long Island and meet with Jonathan at Good Old Gold Good luck on your search. the information and consumer advice and opinions can be very helpful.

Ok.. so the appointment is set.. This friday.. Mark seemed so nice over the phone. Gosh I soo excited maybe I will come home with that Juicy Pear afterall!!!!
