Searching for antique loose diamonds - cushion in particular

Hello!

Still searching for the perfect diamond.. will I find an antique cushion cut diamond (just brilliant cushion - not modified) on online sites such as JamesAllen.com, adiamor or BlueNile? I have looked on Good Old Gold but can’t see any elongated ones, with a L/W ratio of 1:2 or more. Just want to know if I am wasting my time checking the big online retailers.
My criteria is white colour (up to G) good clarity and 2cts + so I realise it’s like searching for a needle in a haystack! Would I be better searching for already set estate rings perhaps and changing the setting if required? Or will I pay a big premium for that perhaps..
Anyone have any hidden gems tucked away? Or know some dealers that I could contact to ask? Several I have asked have told me what I am looking for doesn’t exist but I am not one to give up that easily!

You have heaps of options for antique cushions! I don’t know what they’re talking about. Both old and newly cut.
There will be some on James Allen and places like that, you’ll just need to look. They’re not common tho.
For newly cut antique cushions with ideal light return, look at Distinctive Gem. They custom cut as well so you could get exactly what you want there.
For genuine antiques, look at Old World Diamonds, Jewels by Grace, Ivy and Rose Vintage; on Instagram at Parks Fine Group, Jogani, SinCity Finds. There are a lot more listed in the vendor sticky thread in the Antique forum. You may struggle to find a high colour genuine antique as they were often recut into MRB to be more easily sold.

I think there are some limitations to your search with antique cushions: high colour, big size 2ct+, specific L:W ratio. It might take some time to find and definitely uncommon on those James Allen, Adiamor and Blue Nile.

You might want to get in touch with the vendors that Foxinsox has listed above. I would also suggest Gemconcepts, xothebijouxbox, plattboutiquejewelry, cjd_sako on Instagram.

Great! Thank you both - I had looked on some of the ones you mentioned but definitely will check out the others! Fingers crossed - I’m not in a massive rush but just to be good to know where to search!
