Hello All, I thought I would report on my Seattle Intergem Show experience as I had sought advice about attending the show.
Basically, there were about 50 vendors, the vast majority of them hawking cheap glass beads. There were 7 or 8 booths selling finished gemstone and diamond jewellery, some of which look nice and some pretty cheap looking, and only about 4 vendors of decent loose gemstones (to my untrained eye). At the loose gemstone booths, I was pleased to see that for the really good stones, many had GIA or AGS reports accompanying them. There were some lovely large sapphires in different hues, with lovely large prices accompanying them. I saw a couple of lively pink spinels, but the cuts were poor. Other than that, most seemed to carry highly treated rubies and lots and lots of tanzanites in various qualities. None of the big vendors that are often mentioned here from the East Coast were present at the show.
I was pretty good about not purchasing anything, but I did have some fun choosing a suite of 4.5 mm heated blue sapphires. I am thinking of making a 5 stone band to sit against my diamond 5 stone RHR. The sapphires weren't expensive and did not come with reports, but I had a lot of fun picking my 5 out of a big bunch.
