my closest girlfriend is getting married in LA next may and it''s her second wedding. i''m MOH. she''s having a 3pm wedding in a garden (with amazing views out to catalina island) - followed by a champagne afternoon tea for 35. chamber group. lots of pink roses. that kinda thing.

she''s specifically asked me to wear floral to go with the outdoor theme, and also because plain dresses just look so...bridesmaidsy - a tough look to pull off at 49! she''s wearing pink with an embroidered silk georgette fabric laid over (it has fine gold embroidery and seed pearls). no head deco''s for either of us, drop pearl earrings.

so i thought i''d put up the color palette she''s planning and get your opinions. i think it''s lovely, but wanted some feedback on this for a second wedding.

so - what do you all think? keep in mind that the fabric on the right is a shet chiffon, and will be overlaid on the pink fabric in the middle. obviously the dress on the left is mine. it has small cap sleeves, and a wide V neck, front and back.

thats beautiful! i actually considered floral dresses for my MOH, but couldn''t find any i liked. but yes- I''m a big fan!

I think it will be gorgeous!

Whitby - I think it looks beautiful together. I am close to your age, and I think your dress is beautiful and very appropriate.

Is someone making the bride''s dress?

I think your dress is sooo pretty! I''m still considering having my bridesmaids with dresses that have print on them since I think they are beautiful! Her dress is going to be lovely! Will her dress be long or short?

thanks so much charbie, ilovesparkles, Anastasia and Luckyeshe -

i''ve attached some full length shots so you can get a better idea of the cut of my dress. it was quite a fluke that we found this dress, as my friend had already decided she wanted this exact style of dress for her own dress, and we were wondering how on earth we''d find something to match. and then - bingo! here is was, in pink floral, no less, and perfect! i have a lovely pair of mid heel (2 1/2") sling-back, rose colored stilettos which will be perfect with this, so it''s all systems go for the Matron of Honor! :)

Luckyeshe, you asked about the length of her dress; it will be about the same as mine or a little longer. the bride is 5''8" and VERY long legged but slightly short in the waist, so an elongated line works well for her and is very flattering. i suspect she''ll wear gold sling backs. we''re looking at doing a continuous row of pearls along the edge of the ''collar'' of her dress (you can perhaps see on my dress that there is a piece of fabric that makes a sort of faux collar), just to give it a bit of extra detail, or we might define it with satin piping. her dress will have a pleat in the back which will give it a slight fishtail effect (or she won''t be able to walk, cause we intend this to have a very tapered line), and she''s planning on carrying pink, cream and champagne roses.

the whole thing should be hugely elegant, but it''s just so long since i''ve done a wedding for anyone, i''m a tad nervous and REALLY don''t want to get this wrong, as you can imagine.

thank you all for your very kind comments. i''m giving her her wedding fabric as an engagement gift (she picked it out), and i''m hoping this will be a nice surprise. :)

by the way -

it doesnt really come out in the photos, but my dress is a low sheen satin.

thanks ficklefaye!

here''s the latest update with flowers added. i think she''ll go this direction for her bouquet, and i''ll carry a bunch of deep pink peonies. i really think this is going to be hugely elegant! this color palette is just so soft and feminine, without being mawkish or sickly sweet.

Whitby your friends wedding is going to be so beautiful!! I love all the different pinks...and the floral dress you''ve chosen is lovely!

I think everything goes together superbly

thanks allison, honey and ams :)

it feels so odd to be a MOH after all this time. i''m looking forward to it, but really want this day to just go perfectly. weddings after a difficult divorce have a different feel to them, and in some ways so much more riding on them. there''s the whole feeling of ''i''m never going through *that* again - this one HAS to work!"

so - we''re trying to get it right from the first moment, and that includes the MOH doing a superb job! :D

I love all the different shades of pink with the grey. It's going to look lovely!

Very pretty Whitby!
I had my MOH wearing a grass green chiffon dress, my BM wore a grass green and white floral pattern chiffon and my FG wore a pink, green, and white floral dress. I thought it looked great because while the same color scheme and chiffon feel were used, it wasn''t matchy matchy. I think the dress you posted will work out beautifully for a garden wedding, which is what I also had. I love the look of pink and gray together. Very elegant. oooohh, can you please post pictures of the wedding later. If it is ok with your friend?

Love that dress, Whitby, it''s perfect. San Diego Lady actually posted the same one over in Shopping a couple weeks ago, it''s a great dress!
