I just have to get it off my chest and I can''t really talk to anyone in real life about this! My BF has been making some serious marriage talk lately - with no prompting on my part whatsoever. In fact after we had a few drinks the other night and he was perhaps a bit too "loosened up," he made a comment that he would basically love to pop the question over Thanksgiving, but because of the circumstances at the moment he can''t do that.

I don''t think he''s been ring shopping, so I know it probably won''t be over the holidays. I think his feelings caught up to him faster than his planning/budget. But I''d say it''s definitely coming within the next 4-5 months, at the latest.

Like I said, I''m so anxious I could puke! How am I supposed to control my excitement?!? I was so anti-marriage before I met this guy, but he is really my soul mate (as cheesy as that sounds).

Good luck to all of you over Thanksgiving and the rest of the holidays!!

It''s pretty hard to control that kind of excitement other than distracting yourself with something else. Getting engaged is A BIG deal! Just try your best to breathe and everything will be ok! I could understand how you are feeling though, I would probably feel the same if I knew it was coming very soon.

I just wanted to say that reading the subject of your thread actually made me laugh out loud. Too cute!!!! Bask in the excitement for awhile

I agree, bask in it for a bit without worrying about how to get rid of the super-excitement!

But, I''ve noticed it kinda comes in phases... a coupla weeks will go by and I won''t think about it much, then a week will hit where it''s ALL I think about and I have constant butterflies at the thought of becoming engaged to my BF.... I try to keep myself busy with work and friends!

Just imagine how you will feel right after he does it - you might actually get sick from excitement if you feel that way even now!!! :)

Hahaha! I actually told my fiance ahead of time that I might throw up when he proposes...and we had been dating for 4 years at the time! It ended up that he was a lot more nervous than I was, though, and there was no puking on my part! So you''ll probably be fine!

Definitely find a project or something! I told my FF that I desperately needed a hobby to distract myself. Otherwise if I am idle I sit and look at wedding gowns online or centerpieces on The Knot. Now I''m searching for a doll house kit to put together. That should tide me over for a few weeks.

I know the feeling! When E told me that he told his mother... well, needless to say it was a good thing i was off work!!! :)

congrats!

a few days ago my dad told me that my boyfriend asked him for his blessing; i''m pretty sure my heart stopped.

luckily i have finals to distract me from thoughts of a pending engagement -- unluckily, thoughts of a pending engagement are distracting me from finals!!!

*dust* to you, girly!

This was so me before I got engaged! The weekend before he proposed, I was definitely nauseous from the anxiety. I recommend some sort of meditative activity to calm you down when you get those super-anxious waves--knitting, yoga, baking, sudoku puzzles--whatever. Usually, if I can do something like that for a little while, my stomach settles, and I can be normal again.

I''m so excited for you; that is wonderful that your dream guy is so excited about marrying you!

im so excited for you. it can seem like torture sometimes to know that it is coming. all i can tell you is that you are on the right site. so many of us have been there. whenever you want to come on here and *giggle* and feel anxious we will be there for you.

Smith - you are in good company here!

The first few weeks I turned into a anxious crazy delerious mess... now I go between anxious/crazy and ''would you get it over with already!?!?!'' lol! And it''s only been 2 months...

Vent, giggle, share, cry... pour our your frustrations of every kind here! It feels good and everyone seems to have pretty sound advice as well as equally wonderful support.

Thanks Ladies!
