And where are most of you??

I've seen ellaila post often, and LA Jennifer was around a week ago or so.

Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone's doing. My wedding is at the end of the month, so I still have a *bit* of time, but it's flying fast!

Hope you check in soon. YAHOO for September!

CONGRATS to lynnbesos, reena & Caribou!

YAY September brides!!!

There are actually four people in my office getting married this month, so it's wedding mania everywhere in my life these days -- it's fun! We're all set with everything, and now we're just anxiously awaiting the big day .... I can't believe it's less than two weeks now!

laurel_aurelia, good luck this weekend!!!

And congrats to the newlyweds!!!

Charger, your day will be here before you know it -- it's crazy how fast the time flies by, isn't it??

Twenty-five days and counting!

ellaila- yours is around the corner!

We went to the winery for a final visit this past Saturday. They''ve certainly come a long way from when we were first there in January- only 3 weeks after they opened. Back then, the vines were barely up to my ankles, and now they''re almost to my waist. Not as lush as I would''ve liked, but it will still be a pretty backgroup for the ceremony. Then we plan to take a couple of portraits at an winery down the road that has some SERIOUS vines!

Anyway, we had a great meeting with the owner''s wife. FI was amazed that it lasted 2 hours. Um, yeah!! There''s a ton of details to go over! It was great to go over everything, especially picking the wines that they will be serving that evening. YUM!

Hopefully some of our September brides will chime in fill us in on their activity.

Charger, I''m sure your winery is gorgeous now and will be just perfection in 24 more days!!

I can''t believe that we''re almost single-digit-numbers away from our wedding date -- wahoo!!!

Our ceremony and cocktail hour are supposed to be outside, so I''m starting to get all antsy/anxious about what the weather will be that day (since my mom, who lives in Florida, is hurricane-obsessed, she keeps trying to predict hurricane paths and whether Florence will affect us -- chill out, woman!)! Since we''re too far away to get an accurate forecast, I just went to weather.com and found out that you can find the weather for your wedding day for the past three years -- how cool is that? Last year we had cloudy; the year before, AM fog/PM clouds, and then in 2003, it was sunny and 76 -- praying for a repeat of 2003! But actually I''ll take any of those as long as the rain holds off ...

This month is CRAZY!!! So much to do. Its a destination wedding in Hawaii on Sept. 26, so I''m settling last minute things with the vendors by telephone and email. I think we''re pretty much all set, though. Still haven''t decided on music (I''m such a slacker). Also, I will be singing Ave Maria at a friend''s wedding 2 weeks after my own. So, I just started with a voice coach last night to help me learn the latin, etc. I have my shower this weekend (my oldest friend just flew in from West Virginia to be at my shower - so excited). I have my hair appointment next Friday (color and trim), my friend''s shower next Saturday - then I fly to Hawaii the following Saturday. What a month!

Oh, and I forgot about my dress fittings - had my first one last week (using Lady Jane after seeing what a great job she did on Ms. Flutters dress). I totally felt fat (trying to tell myself it is all in my head). I have my next one on the 14th. I don''t like the spanx so much - thinking of going without.

Hi LAJennifer!
I''m lucky that my dress fittings have gone OK, which is awesome for me as I have a hate/hate relationship with my body. I have my final fitting next week!

There wasn''t much that needed to be done to the dress in the first place. Just hem the bottom (no train), and take it in a bit in the bodice/bust. I bought the "chicken cutlet" thingies that melissasue mentioned in a post eons ago. I needed all the help I could get in the bust.

yeah, I''m also trying to figure out what to wear below the waist. The dress is an a-line- thank goodness it doesn''t hug my belly and hips, so I think I can get away with non-power undies. Maybe boy shorts??

I just checked out the wedding section on weather.com- THANKS for the tip! Can''t wait to get my day-by-day forecast 10 days before the wedding. It was also interesting to see what the weather was like for the last 3 years. It was kinda warm last year (89 at 5p), and a bit chilly the year before (65 at 5p). Hope this year will be in between!

LAJennifer, what don't you like about the spanx? I'm still waiting for mine (ordered it), and I really don't know what to expect! Is it just really uncomfortable/constricting? Good luck with your next fitting!! And remember, we are our own worst judges -- I'm sure you look just gorgeous in your dress!

Charger, I got my 10-day forecast today
4.gif
"AM Clouds / PM Sun 68°/59°" -- and since our ceremony begins at 5 PM, it sounds pretty good to me!! May be a bit chilly but oh well, I can live with that! Not that I really have much faith in a 10-day forecast whatsoever, but ... well it's all I've got right now!

I ordered the Higher Power in the smallest size. I''m very teeny but I do have a "woman''s" body with lots of curves (mostly below the waist). The waist band on the Higher Power comes up to just under the bust. The waist band is too big on me and keeps rolling down and bunches up at the bottom of my chest bone. I felt like it pushed the "stuff" from my hips and rear up into my waist area. I think I''m just the wrong body type for the one I ordered. I would probably do better with one that is a skirt rather than shorts - and one that doesn''t come so high up. I think I''m going to use this really cool girdle I found in a vintage clothing shop in San Francisco last year. It is deadstock from the 1950''s. It is very cool - and I like the way it makes my body look - I''ll just have to see how it fits under the dress (it does have garter buckles for stockings, which I won''t be wearing). If it is undetectable, I''ll go with that - and it can be my "something old".

I only have a minute to post, but wanted to report that we FINALLY bought my mom''s dress yesterday.
Talk about drama! It was harder to buy her dress than mine. I''m soooo relieved to cross that item off my list.

I have a killer work week coming up, so wedding stuff will have to take a backseat until Friday. So much to do, and under 3 weeks to go.

Hope you gals are doing good.

hey ladies! I''m so excited for your weddings. we will have to have an LA get together in October! Share all our pics.

jennifer- hope things go well at Janes, she was slow in coming on my dress. but it came out perfect. I also wore the higher power, dont know if theymade much difference. it was loose at the top, but the dress was so fitted that it held them up all night!

charger- hope your week goes smoothly! cant believe how close your wedding is! its going to be beautiful!

**ellaila** Five days to go, girl!! How are you doing? Is the weather looking good?

The weather is looking *perfect* -- yahooo!!!! What a relief!

There have been a few last-minute glitches though:

I called my makeup girl on Sunday to touch base, and ... she has disappeared. She no longer works at Nordstroms (where I found her), and she wasn't returning the calls I made to her cell (which, by the way, had just an automated message, not even her voice. Hmmm.). YIKES. So after two days of not hearing back from her, I wound up thankfully getting someone who works for MAC to do our makeup that day -- doing my trials tomorrow night. Yes, that's right, makeup trials three days before the wedding.

Then yesterday my venue called to tell me that our menu options had changed -- and of our three fabulous entree choices, two were no longer available! URGH! I mean, I know it's not that big a deal, but really not the kind of thing I wanted to be dealing with at this stage of the game, you know? So we had to choose a new menu, which truthfully I'm not as happy with, but .... whatever. This place is known for its fantastic food, so I know that whatever we have will be amazing!

And I have no idea what my two flower girls (my adorable nieces) are wearing. I told my brother and SIL that my only conditions were that I didn't want something that looked like a mini bridal gown or a communion dress (no all-white and no poofs!) -- I def. want the girls with some color!! For some reason, my SIL would never talk to me about the dresses, even though I tried on a few occasions to talk to her about it, so ... I guess I'll be surprised. I know the girls will be gorgeous no matter what they wear, but because they are basically the only members of our bridal party (we have no BMs or groomsmen, just the flower girls!), I did sort of want to know ahead of time what they were wearing. Oh well.

Honestly, having the wedding so close to the five-year 9/11 anniversary has made me realize that all these little annoyances are just that -- little. Nothing wedding-related is worth freaking out over! This is a celebration, and all the dresses, and food, and party details are just nice-to-haves, not must-haves, you know? As long as my honey and I are there with our family and friends, then all those other things will fall into place, and if they don't, then we'll have a funny story to tell later, right?
2.gif

I'm SO ready for the day to get here!!! I'm not nervous per se -- just anxious to know how it's all going to turn out!! So excited

Wow, what a great attitude...good for you!!!

I was read your post thinking (ah! oh no! How stressful) but how refreshing to read your outlook on the entire thing. You are going to have a lovely day...can''t wait to hear all about it! Have a wonderful, magical, love-filled day!!!

Thanks TG! And the good part of it is that I really do feel this way -- I''m even surprising myself with how calm I am about it all!

One thing too that helps is that our wedding is really small -- I think our total number now is at 38, including us, so I just have this attitude of "well even if I fall flat on my face, it''s in front of our families and best friends so who cares?!" We know all our guests very well and hopefully no one will be judging us and is just there to see us be happy, so really, what''s to be nervous about? And we LOVE out officiant and know she''s going to make the most amazing ceremony, so ...

Here''s to you not falling flat on your face!
And yes, your guests will be there to see you be happy.

I''ll be thinking of you tomorrow!

**Dress Update**

I picked up my dress, and all I can say is WOW!!! It looks AMAZING! When it was too big and then were putting all those pins in it, I totally thought it looked terrible (and I looked like a cow). Well, now it fits and couldn''t look better. I am sooooooo pleased. And, we decided that I am not wearing a thing underneath (still looks great). She only charged $100.

Great news about the dress! What a relief for you to know it all turned out OK
36.gif

I have my final fitting on Wednesday. Wish me luck!

BTW- I remember that thread you posted about your boss''s wife jewelry. Do you know what she picked out for you?

So do we get to see all these final dress fitting pics, or are ya gals gonna make us wait for the wedding photos?

UGH- I hate posting pics of me!

you''ll just have to wait and see wedding photos.

Actually, I don''t think i have any pics of me in my dress! Don''t want them to get into the wrong hands...

They had a 3 strand pearl choker sent in - it is truly stunning! It has a pave diamonds around a single diamond in the center. I was "sure" that was going to be "it". Then when I tried it on with the dress, it didn''t really look right. Maybe its just me, but I really feel the dress looks better without anything around my neck. So now, I''m thinking of doing a bracelet. I''m so bad at accessorizing.

Here''s one for ya!
It''s from our impromptu e-pic session last Saturday eve. We went to a dinner party and our friends gave us one of those framed mat things to use as our guest book and made us take pics for it right there and then! It was a tad windy- talk about flyaways...

Good thing we had a pretty Manhattan Beach sunset behind us!

Ohhh, it sounds lovely! Can you wrap it twice around your wrist and use it as a bracelet?

Looks great...fun and natural and you both look very happy! I like the wind blown tresses...lol.

Gotta love those Manhattan Beach sunsets. I just got a very beachy looking frame at Ross and we are going down to Hermosa and Manhattan at some point to take a few photos ourselves. However, I think I would like a overcast morning...something kinda romantic about that too.

yuk- just noticed the power lines behind us. maybe i can photoshop those out of the pic we end up using.

there''s one of him licking my ear, and i have "pucker face" going on. it''s silly, but SO us.

Hehehe, you should use that one.

That should be a pretty simple photoshop job, but yeah, I just noticed it too.

OMG- just got word that our officiant has "schedule conflicts" on our wedding day cannot preside over our ceremony! He thought the other couple's ceremony was at 3p, and it's at 5p (ours is at 5:30p). They secured him first, so that leaves us the odd man out. Trust me, I've already talked his ear off, and he KNOWS how I feel about it.

He heads up a clergy referral service and is looking for a "top-notch" replacement as we speak. Only thing is that we probably won't be able to meet the new officiant until our rehearsal the day before.

I'm taking it all in stride. If this is the worst thing that will happen to us, then we're in good shape.
Just trying to stay positive!

What a bummer Charger! I''m sorry to hear that. I''m sure he''ll find someone really good for your guys though. You seem like you are staying really positive about it.
