Hi All, now that I've found a jeweler I like and trust, I'm getting around to setting two loose stones I purchased back in late 2014. One is an oval "lavender" spinel that also has some pinkiness to it, and the other is an elongated EC forest green tourmaline.
specs and photos:
spinel: 7.6 x 6.5mm (1.43ct)
For this stone, I had thought to do some type of cluster. Here are a couple of inspo photos I found:
I was thinking to do something other than diamonds with this stone, but I did find one setting style that I liked. Any thoughts about using opals? Or, opals and a blue gemstone of some type in a double cluster? Any opinions on selection of gold color with this stone?
And, here is the tourmaline: 11 x 6.2 mm (3.24ct)
I was originally thinking a yellow gold bezel, but after reading @Mreader's recent thread about her gorgeous ascher cut tourmaline, I started to think a bezel would black-out the stone...I am not sure what to do with this one. I have two trillions from my reset e-ring. They're 4.6mm each. Any thoughts about using them for side stones and making this a 3-stone ring? Not sure about proportions...
Found a few options but not sure any are "the" one...I don't usually gravitate to a split-shank, but thought this had possibilities. Maybe set the trillions between the shank? I'm leaning toward YG for this stone.
Would love any and all opinions.
Thank you!!!
