Hi, I've been lurking and loving this site for years. I love Diamonds, Sapphires and Emeralds mostly but just recently I've bought a gorgeous sunny yellow Beryl 1.83ct round cut loose stone ( first loose stone purchase!) and I'd love some help with ideas of how to set it please. Generally I like simple settings and from lurking I know I love Leon Mege's work but this will probably be set by a local independent jeweller in the UK. The stone was fairly cheap but it is beautiful, clear and sparkly, and I'm happy to spend reasonably to enhance it!
I've got a size L finger (? Size 6 in U.S.) that I'm planning to wear it on as a right hand ring, I don't want to make it too big, but I do like the idea of diamonds with it..maybe....I can't wait to hear any suggestions and photos would be a great help please. This is very exciting, thank you.

What an exciting process!
It could be helpful if you share your budget and your inspiration rings from Leon and people here can give you an idea

Hi Acinom, thank you, your suggestion has actually helped me to clarify my thinking. Looking thru' the Leon M ones online it seems that I quite like a few of his rings that are micro pave set in a halo around the stone, or are double claw set alone but with a bit of Pave on the ?shank down from the ring. I love the double claws. Think it's the look of the workmanship I like mostly with the LM ones.
Having said that, I do have a few old inherited rings that I am also thinking of refashioning and so it's possible that I could always use two of the three diamonds out of one old ring as side stones. They are round cut about 0.25ct each and very nice looking, probably G/H or better comparing them to a known diamond I have, the third stone is about a 0.30ct but as its a single it wouldn't work I think, unless someone has a great idea!
Another ring I like has the stone set very simply in double claws but then has the ring set with about four tapering diamonds on each side, sort of channel set but not! Sorry I'm not sure of the terminology?
Looking around I've noticed that some yellow stones have yellow gold claws and some white metal, that's another thing to consider! I've never had a stone as large as this before so it's all delightfully scary!
My budget is difficult to set, as if I really love the plan for the stone then I could possibly alter the budget, without going too far! Is there a sensible price limit for spending on a Beryl rings enhancement, or is it just personal preference? I'd love some suggestions, Thanks

Ohh.... no suggestions so far -sad face! I've been searching the site and trying to gather ideas, I'm rather liking split shank rings with tiny diamonds set into them, also I think double yellow gold pointed claws with the rest of the ring in white metal but ? Platinum or white gold I'm not sure yet. I already have a five stone diamond ring set in platinum and love it.
I'm trying to balance my like for simple styles with the idea that this stone needs diamonds! Maybe 2 baguette stones would be nice either side of a simple double claw setting....I do need help...please! I'm going to try and post a photo of the stone thinking maybe that will help with ideas. Thank you.

This is an ipad photo taken outside on a balcony which I've cropped, it's not the best shot or best view of the Beryl but all I could manage and may help to give an idea of it, I love the colour and twinkle of it but the photo doesn't do it justice really, please excuse my 'sandpaper' hands!

Incase this helps, the stone is 8mm across and looks perfectly round, it's a gorgeous sunny yellow ( much nicer, brighter, clearer and more evenly coloured than the photo, I did take it on a balcony but with my back to the sun and an overhead balcony!) with no eye visible inclusions at all, according to the certificate its VS clarity.
The yellow Danburite setting enquiry is interesting, it's a beautifully coloured stone too but is slightly larger than mine at 9mm+ but it seems to be getting some suggestions similar to what I've been considering. I've spent days looking at this site and various reputable US, Canadian and UK jewellers websites looking for inspiration, I keep heading down the fairly traditional route of side stones, or a halo and then maybe stones in a split shank...but really I'd like something beautiful and classy but less....regularly seen!
I can't wait to see what variety of other setting suggestions the Danburite gets over the coming days. I'm spending far too much time researching this......but I do love Jewellery :)
