Merry Christmas everyone

I have picked up a little hot pink spinel it’s teeny but I just adored the colour.

I know small stones can pack a punch if set well.

Would anyone care to share a setting they have for a small stone that shows it off to best advantage ? Yours or an inspo pick

Any advice welcome 97A75253-2272-4000-8D4E-EEA404DF52DC.jpeg

This is my 0.6ct Baringo Ruby 4.7 x 4.7mm cut by Jeff White, and I am planning to set it at 45deg in a Gypsy setting with 3mm round diamonds or ocean blue side stones:

This is the setting I have in mind, in shiny white metal:

^ absolutely love gypsy settings!

For small stones, I also really like this ring design with star-set stones (about 0.35ct each) ... you could do two-tone metal instead of enamel ... or a different color enamel that complements your chosen stones ...

@dk168 i had never heard of gypsy settings I love this your stone is gorgeous too.

@marymm i have seen some really cool enamel rings lately I really want the namya to be the hero I wonder if enamel would take away from it

@whitewave my initial reaction was to set it like this all on its own but I have large hands I fear it would get lost

I am now thinking of coloured accent stones I had thought of diamonds put maybe there is an accent colour that would make the pink even more neon?

Well, a vibrant tsavorite green amps up a hot pink, or a cobalt blue.

Sorry it's night time.

Here's some I've set from Cecile Raley Designs. They did a custom CAD for the one on the right (4.3mm round with 3.5mm trillion sides), and the left one is one of their standard settings.

Here is another CAD design from Cecile Raley Designs that they can make into a ring. The center is 3.5mm round. Then there's 6 2mm rounds and 6 1.2mm rounds. You can ask them for color pairings. I think it would be awesome to have Jedi pink with hauyne blue.

I was hoping you would weigh in @voce

So Cecile Raley will work with outside stones? I do love that pendant

Well, for these rings I bought all the stones from Cecile Raley Designs.

They will make the setting for outside stones, no problem, they just don't set outside stones. So you could, if you buy other melee from them, just have everything else complete except for the bezel or prong around the outside stone, and take it to another jeweler to complete. I'm sure this is for insurance purposes, as outside stones can break.

I like halos so something like this -

the centre stone in this is a pink diamond

I have big hands so delicate rings feel a bit lost on me

Ps not my ring just inspiration that I saved

I saw this setting which I really like on Pinterest I wonder if anyone has seen someone design something similar?

Sorry I can't help you, but had to pop in to say I love this setting and would look great with a colored center.

Love the color of your stone it looks like a candy!

I agree gypsy rings would be great. I personally had smaller rubies I didn’t feel comfortable setting In a simple halo or three stone because they were too small for my taste. I set them as the head of a serpent ring
You could set them in such a way it could be like a band for a larger solitaire, or if you have a larger stone, you can use it as a “snake bezel”

Beautiful stone. I think a less vivid colored small gem would get lost in a ring, but when the stone packs a color punch like yours, it doesn’t matter what size it is. I can’t wait to see what you do with it, but I’d love to see it in a halo if mint green gems.

Another style that flatters a smaller
Stone. Obviously anything could be replaced with diamonds in the example below

I loveeeeee halos too I am trying to do something different this time although it was my first thought. Gems just pop against that shimmery diamond border it’s hard to beat.

Thank you it is the ring design that has stood out to me the most for some reason I found the jeweller on Etsy so have favourited the shop perhaps they can make the setting and I can get my stone set here.
Love the color of your stone it looks like a candy!
Thanks @Polabowla I had to have it when I saw the colour and found it was a reputable gem dealer being namya is just a nice bonus

Thanks for the inspo @Niel i have saved a few gypsy rings on Pinterest the snake reminds me a little of my bypass ring which is fast becoming my favourite

@T L thank you I hope it is as amazing in person I opted for the slow shipping mainly as the budget was stretched but it gives me time to come up with what to do with it.

I am still considering a pendant for it I always go for rings as I can admire them after all I am the one that loves them

I love this - very dainty and feminine!

I think Yvonne of Cecile Raley has brilliant designs for little gems and while they don't set outside stones, you could use their settings as inspiration with design changes.

Tiara rings are another great use of little gems:

Another idea is to use the small gem as a focal element with a larger and less expensive gem. I am doing that with a tsavorite I bought from LoupeTroop and will likely design more pieces like this:

I am partial to all snake rings but this first one is particularly elegant!
