Elmorton wanted to know about the Sex and the City Shower/Bachlorette Party that I threw for my friend. So I figured I post it over here so that anyone who was planning a shower may be able to get some ideas from it! A couple of months ago I posted on BWW asking for help on games and such, and a lot of you girls helped me out. So thanks to you, the party came off without a hitch!
Here are some things I liked the most…. Everyone was encouraged to wear pink or black “Sex and the City” attire. Quotes from the show were used on the invitations and around the party. I made a CD of all of the French/Instrumental songs that were played in the last two episodes while Carrie was in Paris. (It was playing in the background while we ate and had cocktails). Finally, the bar was my favorite part. Everything was pink and back and I got martini glasses/vases/ and these pink and black placemats from Ikea for really cheep. I made bottles of pre-made Cosmopolitans and Apple Martini’s and put them on ice so they would always be chilled and we wouldn’t have to constantly be making drinks. It turned out really nice! Lots of candles and hot pink flowers… even some pink carnations as they are Carrie’s favorite flowers. --Can you tell I watched the show religiously? Haha--- I made all the food (which was surprisingly easy) including some Balsamic Chicken with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes Sandwiches which were very good. I got the recipe online and everyone really liked those. I bought some French pastries for desert. The best part of it is that I gave away the Ikea vases as favors and they were only 79 cents each! I was really excited about that find! After dinner, drinks, and shower games I gave the Bride-to-be a goody-bag of things to wear out and to use for the rest of the night. (veil, a wip, and a sash) Then we all hoped into a limo to go out-and-about town like the Sex and the City Girls!
I’m really happy they way it turned out and I didn’t spend that much money either. (minus the cost of the Limo) Ikea was a GREAT help in getting nice things for cheep and I had all the candles laying around the house!
I was really stressed out as it was my first time hosting a party like this. But it really turned out lovely.
Now let''s see if I can post pictures.... hmmmm
