I seem to be leaning toward a Carolina Herrera or Oscar de la Renta gown, but can''t afford to pay the full price. Anyone have tips for finding beautiful dresses at a discount? Especially designer dresses?

Any tips on discounters or consignment stores where you can try before you buy in major urban areas?

As for internet: I''m loving:

www.bridepower.com

and

www.preownedweddingdresses.com

Preowned wedding dresses is great, that's my favorite that I've found. I have a Judd Waddell listed there myself right now, who used to work for Carolina!

Anyway, other ways are to call local salons and ask if they ever have sample sales. You can also try ebay and craigslist, but ebay is harder to make returns than the bridal dress specific websites.

Partypop.com is another place where brides sell/buy dresses too.

www.rkbridal.com This is where I got my dress!!! About 40% off!!!!!!!!. It''s an actual store in NY, their customer service at the store is supposed to be horrible, but I didn''t car since I was just ordering by mail. They also beat any price you find by 5%...

Honestly, the best one I can tell you is that when you do find THE dress, call around and see what shops offer it for what prices. I''ve noticed as much as a 300.00 difference between states, which is why I bought my dress in MI for almost 800, when in MA it sells for 1100 on average. There can also be a large difference in state as well, but don''t buy it immediately before you know that you are getting the best deal.

Things like veils and tiaras all seem to be about the same though in bridal shops, between 100-150 each, so unless you ebay it, you probably wont find too many huge deals in shops by comparison shopping for veils or tiaras.
