Sharing My New Ceylon Blue Sapphire

I wasn’t planning to purchase a blue sapphire because I have a ring with a small light colored one that is very nice but I saw this one and couldn’t resist.

It’s not perfect but it does have very nice color and glow in the sun and in bright light. It’s nicely saturated with no grey. It even has nice color indoors. It has quite a few clear inclusions but to me it’s pretty much always eye clean. It has a small window but I think it will close when set because I don’t really see it most of the time - the light return must be really good.

It is 1.25ct and a good size at 6.5x5.7x3.6

Someday I would still like to get a more velvety royal blue sapphire but I’m pretty happy with this one.

I should add that it wasn’t very expensive so I’m pleased it is as nice as it is. It is heated but that’s fine with me.

Here it is next to my older, smaller one. It’s more vibrant than that one.

Thanks! I had to look up cerulean blue. That’s actually a good description of the color. The stone does look a bit violet blue at times but it’s just a nice saturated medium blue that really doesn’t ever go too dark.

I can’t stop taking photos of this sapphire! It is looking very Azure Blue today.

Thanks! I’m pleasantly surprised at the color. Now I need to decide how to set it but I think this one might need a halo.
