I want to buy a ammolite jewelry but i noticed all of them are triple

I remember my friend told me not to get triplet when i buying opal.
Is it same case for ammonite?

Thanks

Hi! I dislike triplet ammolites myself, but have nothing against a doublet (with a shale backing for support... ammolite is only millimeters thick). Personally, I would keep looking. But if you don't mind the quartz top, then give the triplet a go. Happy hunting!

From GIA: "Because the layers are thin, Ammolite is almost always assembled into a doublet or triplet. Ammolite is often backed with a material like shale, black onyx, or glass to form a doublet. Sometimes a top layer of synthetic spinel or quartz is added to form a triplet."

I wouldn't say you *shouldn't ever* not get a doublet or triplet. But that pay for what it is. For gemstones, it often isn't worth it, but if that's what's in budget well... *shrug*

If you like it, that's all that matters... well that and you aren't overcharged. But if you love it, they were honest about what it is, and it's a fair price, decide if that is right for you and your budget. Hope you find one that makes your heart sing!

Well that's a killer. I had always admired those since the dawn of the internet but not now...

Thanks for the info. I went to few local store and looked at them. Most of them were Triples in Jewelry setting. I couldn't find anything in doublet in jewelry setting

Doublets are pretty hard to find (but not impossible). Triplets can still be fun (like the one in my profile image). As the material is often so thin, the protective layer can be helpful.

Just as with opal triplets though, I’d keep it from getting wet.
