White gold, diamond, natural amethyst. I like the style. Sound like a fair price?

Can't see the quality of cut and color by these pictures. I always worry about windows and color saturation in color stones

True enough. But I think if it has a window I wouldn't be that upset. Maybe that's crazy. It's mostly the setting I'm in love with :kiss2:

I think it's really beautiful. I guess I'm still in the old school mind set that amethyst is more affordable than that, though. I guess it depends on the carat size and if it truly is natural amethyst. I've read recently that up to 60% in the market is synthetic! I was stunned.

It’s very pretty, but I think it’s a lot of money for amethyst.

It's an 11ct amethyst. No idea how they know that it's natural. It's a fancy pawn shop that has it. Good for me to be aware that it might be synthetic!

Ok, good to know! I don't normally shop around for coloured stones!

Would you guys be able to help me find something similar for less? Just needs to be white gold, amethyst, and have some diamonds. It's a gift for my mother :)

What’s the total height off the finger? It looks like it’s going to get whacked too easily.

Wow that’s pretty! It’s a gorgeous statement ring, but might not work for everyday wear because of the off the finger height. If she’s looking for a special occasion ring I would say buy it! think the price is reasonable when you factor in the setting.

As for budget, I'd really be happier spending more like $500 USD, but this ring just spoke to me. However, I dislike overpaying!

You're paying for diamonds and gold. Ammy is pretty cheap even in larger sizes (though location can play part in price fluctuations.

That said I do believe its overpriced even for diamonds and gold. Is this a brand name ring? if not, yes its overpriced.

Nope, not a brand name.

I really appreciate the education! Reminds me of when I learned that sterling silver didn’t have to be $$$ (even though Tiffany charges a premium).

Oh sorry @pearaffair, I thought you were in the UK.

Just for reference, you can get a AAA Lusaka amethyst, 8-9 cts, set in gold with Cambodian white zircon (as opposed to diamonds) for less than £200.

Forgot to say you could also ask them to source an amethyst to put into one of their ready made settings, many of which are preset with diamonds. Ask to choose the amethyst though, so you get a good one.

JD has some newly listed Amethyst in lighter colour.

This stone cost me over 700 USD back in late 2014, however it was cut by Richard Homer of Concave Cut fame.

Would I spend that much on an Amethyst again? Probably not!
