OK so in another thread someone mentioned redoing their bathroom and I thought let's start a thread to get ideas. I also have been wanting to redo our primary bedroom's bathroom since we moved into this house in 2011. Initially we were here only part time so I didn't make it a priority but we have been living here full time almost five years and I am so sick of beige. Anyone who knows me knows I hate beige. It's a (IMO) wishy washy color and while some love it (more power to you) I hate it. And my entire bathroom is beige. Beige marble, beige tile, beige cabinets, beige floor. BEIGE BEIGE BEIGE UGH!!!

My dream bathroom is mainly white (marble) with navy (or lighter blue-haven't decided yet) accents. I just started getting motivated to begin the thought process on renovating my (Greg and I have separate bathrooms...key to a successful marriage LOL) bathroom. The big issue is I won't live through a renovation. We have done two major renovations in our lifetime together and we did not live there while renovating. It's too much. Too dirty. Too dusty. Too loud, Too intrusive. And fuggedaboutit for the kitties. So yeah that makes it more challenging because our NYC apartment is not ready to be inhabited since we have not lived there since May of 2020. And we actually need to renovate that apartment too as the last gut renovation project there was 2004 and it is already outdated. Nothing major but repainting and maybe a few minor redos would spruce it up. But I digress. I will share some inspiration bathroom photos and add to this thread as I find attractive options.

Would love to see your dream bathrooms..real or imagined and hear your thoughts.

OK some photos

Love this tile and I have a similar bath so wouldn't need to change the bath at least

We have this gray and white Carrara tile in the kitchen and I LOVE it
I would lose the pink rug, just no to the rug lol

This is similar to my storage in the bathroom with the cabinets but mine are beige :( So I would want something like this

No gold/brass accents for me. I am not a huge fan of the trend. I think it's pretty but not my style and probably will look dated relatively soon
I am also not a fan of vessel sinks. Give me a deep sink (double of course) and I am happy. No splashing fallouts if the sink is deep enough

I would add navy accents throughout. I cannot find any photos right now of what I want to do regarding the blue

My style is minimalist. Simple. Clean. Elegant.

I don't like baths, so it will be a wet room with a walk in shower at least 1m x 1m as I don't like pokey small showers - don't like touching cold glass/wall when I am having a shower.

With the latest variable rain shower/waterfall, perhaps mood lighting too. Got to be sufficiently powerful as I don't like weak showers.

Need a bidet too, and a heated mirror with good lighting.

My needs are simple!

I don’t really understand the design choice to put an area rug in a bathroom. Maybe I lack imagination.

Cold floors? Rugs are cheaper than under-floor heating.

LOL I agree. It will retain moisture and become yucky. I put a towel down before my shower and launder it right after. I leave nothing on the floor. I prefer the clean look. No area rugs in the bathroom please :)

I love white and blue baths. I find them cheerful and so calming.

Fair enough! I think I’d just run a space heater ahead of time to warm up the floors, or get fluffy, washable mats. I would worry about mold and mildew growing on the rug.

Oh, I wouldn't put a rug in a bathroom either. But I have tile, beautiful tile, and this time of year if you are unwise enough to go in barefoot it is COLD. So I can see why one might, maybe.

Space heaters are fire hazards. Wouldn't want one in the house....let alone BR!! And mats are easily replaced and can spruce up a space...easier than a reno! JMHO.

I'm with you on the shower. When I remodeled our primary bath, I opted for a spacious walk in shower with no door. Shower curtains and shower doors are too much upkeep. The shower photo is dark, sorry. I took it with my phone tonight. The other 2 I snagged from my interior designer's website because I lost most of my photos when I switched to a new laptop. Don't have heated mirrors but I do have heated floors. A hack for keeping mirrors from getting foggy is to clean them with shaving cream.

I totally have a paranoia about space heaters starting fires.

I grew up in a cold house with tiled bathroom floors. I always wore slippers, so I’d towel off in the shower after shutting off the water, step on the bath mat to dry some more, and go straight to my slippers. Cold tile is brutal!

We have space heaters because keeping a big old house warm, especially the third floor rooms, would be even more wildly expensive than our present heating bills, which are gob-smacking enough. We have the oil filled radiators with lots of safety systems, and so far so good. This way if a room we want to use is cold, we can heat it without cranking the whole house.

Important, for anyone unused to them - they *must* be plugged into a wall outlet. They draw too much current for surge protectors or extension cords.

@Matata I forgot the heated floor, DOH!

Decor wise, it will be predominantly white (currently one has blue accent), lots of glass, chrome, stainless steel, and white sanitary ware.

And a silver glitter toilet seat and cover (what I have now and love it).

Definitely modern.

DK :))

We have a walk through shower with 2 shower heads. I don’t like rain shower heads, because I don’t wash my hair everyday. We have separate vanities on different sides of the bathroom so we’re not rubbing elbows brushing our teeth. We have a deep oval tub and have used it once since we moved in here in 2022.

I had to choose all the finishes over the internet when the house was being built so I went quite neutral. Oblong white tiles, similar to the ones Missy posted, with the grey veining, hex marble tiles on the shower floor in shades of grey, and oblong dark grey floor tiles. White units, dark grey quartz tops, and brushed nickel hardware. The hardware were replacements due to supply issues.

There is nothing better than a heated bathroom floor and a towel warmer.

So pretty. In our NYC apartment my bathroom is blue and white and I still love it even 21 years after renovating. One room that has stood the test of time

There is nothing better than a heated bathroom floor and a towel warmer.

Love both of those. Especially the heated towel rack since I do not walk barefoot on the floor so heated floors aren't a big deal for me but still both are great features to have

Beautiful. I am spoiled though and need a separate toilet room lol. But other than that love this

Yes agree 100%. I used to use space heaters at work. Perfectly safe when used correctly

Love a walk in shower. I have a big walk in now but OMG all beige. LOL
Your bathroom is so pretty Matata. Love it

My dream is to have a 2nd bathroom.

Girl, I hope your dream comes true. I would not want to share a bathroom with my DH. But I was never good at sharing anyway

At least in good weather...

Who doesn't love an outdoor shower...a definite must in beach weather. Sand is worse than cat litter in that it gets everywhere lol

I love this thread. Having fully renovated the Vicarage a couple of years ago (is it that long already?’!) I really appreciate the effort & thought that goes into these things.

Here are our bathrooms. They all have heated floors & heated towel rails. The interior designers were very good at getting to know us & what they felt would be our vibe & they nailed it. All the showers have 2 heads - a large rain shower & a wall mounted rail removable head. Also excuse the mess - the cleaner will be in later & it always feels like a posh & tidy hotel when she’s been!

Fun fact. The wall mounted thingy to the left of the window in the master bath is an original wall vent. They were positioned in every room & some rooms had two. There is a little twist handle on the side that is a fist gripping a rod, that you turn to open & close the vent into the outside air brick. This is the only one we were able to save!

Thanks, lovely. A bathroom makeover is a messy job, so as long as you’re prepared for it mentally, then you’ve got this!

Oh yes. This is how I got to purchase mrs-b's Bodecea. Hubby didn't want his bathroom remodeled -- it was literally falling apart -- because it meant he had to share with me during the reno and I have high hygiene standards and he has none. He was not mentally prepared for the sharing. As a bribe to put off the reno, he told me to buy the ring and then said -- within 2 seconds of me telling mrs-b it was a go -- that I couldn't bug him about the bathroom for a year. Sneaky but I got the ring and I gave him a 2 yr reprieve on the bathroom which was renovated this past May.

Then I’ll be ready:)

Brave woman. How did the sharing go? Or did he use a different bathroom during his bathroom Reno?

This is SOOO funny! Go Mr Matata! :lol-2:

The sharing was far easier than I anticipated. I am the Queen of Stinkeye and he did everything expected of him in order to avoid having my orbs of fire and brimstone gaze upon him. What's funny is that he is far neater in the new bathroom. I don't think he realized how awful and depressing the old one was until he walked into the fresh and shiny new one. He's done a fair job of keeping it clean enough that I can enter it for periodic inspection without wearing a Hazmat suit :mrgreen2:
