#JOTW Show me your Luxury Watches!

In just TWO MORE DAYS (eeek!) it will be my Big 5-0 & I will finally get my grubby little mitts on that coveted Rolex :kiss2:

My question is: those who stack bracelets with luxury watches, do you worry about scratching, or do you live & let live?

Calling @Octave @Kaycee2018 @Natylad You guys are stackers. Do you get bothered by scratching? I recall in another thread @Tonks loving the look of your bracelets stacked with your Rolex but hating the idea of damage…..

Thoughts? Because I’m a stacker & have never given a thought to my SS Raymond Weil getting scratched. Even after 20 years of SOLID wear, it looks as good as new :lol-2:

I literally asked my SA at the local Rolex AD the other day how bad it would be to stack.

He shook his head and told me he wasn’t even going to answer such a dumb question.

I tried it the other day with a couple of VCA Alhambra bracelets but for me it’s just not going to happen to stack a watch and bracelet. My bracelets usually go on the right arm, which is bigger. So they are looser on the left which means they bang the hell out of a watch.

There are plenty of people who do it but it’s a no for me.

However, I do have a watch I rarely wear. I am contemplating making it the sacrificial stacking timepiece if the urge strikes.

Loving the sacrificial lamb! :lol-2:

Ok, if your SA says it’s a big no, then it’s a no. My new watch is actually a lot bigger than my current one, so I expect it’ll feel pretty chunky just by itself. My bracelets have been on my RH for months anyway, despite whacking children against the head when treating injuries etc - I’ve learned to just super careful.

First of all: Congratulation on your new watch!
To answer your question: I have to be honest and say that the scratching doesn't really bother me. I like the look of stacks, and so I put up with the scratches. Scratches are inevitable, especially when wearing diamond studded bracelets along with gold watches (but gold on gold will scratch too). Fortunately, I have a few watches that I wear in rotation, and since mechanical watches need to be serviced from time to time anyway, the scratches are polished out at the same time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! My grubby mitts also got a rolex for my 50th! I am one of those annoying people who wear their watch on their right wrist.

I have tried stacking it with my WG guilloche, but that i was a little worried about scratching the bracelet (not the watch).

I have stacked it with my rose gold clash but the RG of the Rolex is way different color than the RG of the Cartier so i didnt love the look of the colors together, my rolex is already 2 tone with a slate face so it was too many different colors but i did LOVE them together in terms of the clash not being fluid.

So, I decided that a WG Cartier thin bangle was probably my best bet for stacking. I just haven't made it to Cartier yet to try it on.

Sorry, i always talk too much. Summation: i dont worry about scratching my watch. I bought it to wear it, it's going to get scratched whether i stack with it or not! I say wear it and love it.

i think it's like team gap vs team no gap, it's just preference, if you will worry, dont stack because then you wont enjoy it ! Again happy 50th birthday!

When i went to Rolex to have the size adjusted and I pulled up my sleeve and he saw i was wearing a bracelet with it the AD audibly gasped. :lol-2:

Thank you for your input & for the Birthday wishes! Did make me chuckle about the SA gasping :lol-2: I am a bit live & let live. They are only things. But I’ll see how the watch feels by itself initially.

Happy almost-birthday! Uhm, which coveted Rolex will grace your grubby little mitts? I have a couple versions I really like the look of, but never wear watches, so it's a moot point for me to consider one. I do, however, love to live vicariously!

Ooooo!!! So excited for you Ally T!!
A fancy watch is such a great purchase since you can really it enjoy it every day.
As far as stacking I never stack my Rolexes (either gold or stainless) with a bracelet.
I wish I wasn’t so compulsive as I love the look of stacked, but scratches on the watch (or on the bracelet) would really bother me.
So I do what @Tonks does.. watch on one right wrist and bracelets on the other.:D
I wish I could be a "live and let scratch" kind of girl like @Octave and @Inked but alas I'm not.:(
Can't wait to see you new wrist finery!

@Ally T congrats!!

I wear my gold Rolex Datejust on my left wrist, and never stack it with anything. Honestly it has so much presence at 31mm (and also the gold), I think any bracelet would be overkill with it. I love it.

I posted the digital mock up the SA made of the elements I chose back in Feb in the things you’re considering thread, but rest assured I shall post it in here tomorrow.

@Rubies-R-Me @finerthings Thank you both. I think the watch is going to be pretty weighty compared to what I’m used to, so I’ll certainly keep my bracelets where there are on the RH. Decision made. It took me AGES to come to terms with the scratches to my bangle!

Omg, @Ally T , I didn’t say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! (Not sure if today or tomorrow but lots of good wishes being sent your way.)

Please post lots of photos when you get your watch!

I have always worn my Rolex on my left hand alone. I would not want to risk scratching the watch nor tolerating the two clanking together. I just think it would be nerve wracking for me to have to be vigilant, so it is just a no go for me.

Hello @Ally T !!! Very exciting times for you!!! Happy Birthday to you! I recently celebrated my big 5-0 too and I feel that I was reborn and my life has started from the beginning!!!
Regarding the stacking: I have been wearing 24/7 my Rolex watches for twenty years now and I stack them with all kinds of bracelets all the time. So far, neither my Rolex watches nor my bracelets show any significant sign of scratching! Go ahead and stack as much as you want!!! Enjoy your watch and your beautiful jewelry and of course, post some photos!!!!!

Omg @Tonks!!! Hehehe!!! I saw my SA at Rolex the other day, because I was making an inquiry for a watch for DH and I showed up with my Rolex worn on my left wrist and stacked with two diamond eternity bracelets, one ruby riviera and one 14 kt yellow gold bracelet. His reaction: "NatyLad, you are sooo sparkly and I love your stack"!!! Thank God he didn't scold me !!!!
