#JOTW Show me your Luxury Watches!

Happy birthday @Ally T what a perfect present for a milestone birthday. It looks great on you!

HI:

So what time is it @Ally T ? You made me want to put my Rolex on......

cheers--Sharon

Eeek!!! It is absolutely GLORIOUS :kiss2::kiss2:

(And not getting stacked. The gold on the bracelet is too shiny!)

It's gorgeous and the perfect stand alone size!

Does my watch look rose gold to you? I’ve checked the paperwork & it states 18ct yellow gold, but it’s quite pink next to my 18ct bracelets (bangle hung loosely on my wrist to illustrate - I’m wearing the watch alone) Is your Rolex a firm buttery yellow?? Is it just because it’s so shiny with no patina yet compared to the bracelet?

It does look a little like rose gold to me! But I'm not too familiar with these watches, and if that's how they look usually. It's stunning on you, wear it in good health <3

Recently got a new leather strap and 24k bracelet slide charm for my Omega

Why have I never heard of bracelet slide charms for watches before??! I love it!

:wavey:Hi Ally T!
I think your watch appears "pinky" because it's "brand new shiny" next to your bracelet. I have a rose gold Rolex and it's REALLY pink. If you put them side by side the yellow will definitely look yellow and the pink pink.

Thanks, lovely, that’s reassuring & I adore you watch :kiss2: And it’s obviously pink. My sister has a yellow gold Submariner from her ex some 20 years ago so we compared at the weekend & hers is very yellow & more the colour of my Tiffany bangle. But it’s very battered & scuffed all this time later as you can imagine. Mine is definitely NOT pink, which is why I’ve not noticed until now. My sister suggested the same as you in that it will, with age & wear & scuffs, start to yellow up more. Not that is really matters. I was just a bit ‘Eh?” when I had my wrists together & noticed the slight colour difference!

Thank you! I really, REALLY love it. It’s so heavy & the bezel fires light off it like diamonds & is really eye catching. I got used to the weight pretty quickly & now I only remove it to lotion or lift weights / work out etc.

Is your watch in this thread? Pictures please!

Hi Watch Aficionados! I have a watch question. I found a pre owned Cartier watch that I love. The description said it would fit a 6” wrist which I thought would be perfect since my wrist measures 5 5/8”. But I don’t think that they measured properly because it is too small. :cry2:
I can close it, but it’s tight and not comfortable. I’ve searched for extra links, but it’s not a common model, and I can’t find anything. I need about 1/4” more. Is there anything I can do to make it fit me? Any tricks without ruining the integrity of the watch?

:cry:Ugh.. what a disappontment that it doesn't fit.
A few ideas..
If they measured wrong can you return it?
Does Cartier offer links to purchase?
Have you checked ebay for extra links? If none are listed now maybe in the future?
As a last resort.. you could change the band to a leather band and that would solve the problem. Hope that was helpful. Good luck!:wavey:

Hi @Rubies-R-Me ! I can definitely return it! I just really love it, so I’m trying to figure something out. All my other watches have leather bands, so the draw was the gold band. I’ve scoured Ebay and Chrono24 for links already.
But those are all great suggestions. Thanks!

Oh one last idea.. can you wear it on your non dominant wrist? Usually that's a smidge smaller than the one you write with.

Did you purchase the watch from an Estate vendor ( or an official Cartier dealer)? Perhaps with their "connections" they can source some links for you......

Success to you!

cheers--Sharon

Cartier will allow you to order links even of watches that are vintage and not made anymore! Takes a few months for them to come but it’s worth it.

I will try that!

what model is it?

Hi @mustangchi !
I’ll post it if I end up being able to keep it.

ok gotcha. was just going to suggest possibly reaching out to some of the secondary market dealers that deal in Cartier watches to see if they may be able to help you get a couple of links

I have been meaning to change the watch strap of my Hermes Nantucket ever since I bought it pre-loved more than two years ago, but kept vacillating between a black or navy strap. It also doesn’t help that watch straps at Hermes start at around $400…

Well, I tried on the pave WG Cartier Baignoire with black strap recently and knew that I had to go for black! It’s just so classic and clean.

(I also got a third party strap for $20, because, jewellery fund maths :geek2:).

Here is the before and after:

And the Cartier inspiration (first the mini size which I really like, and then the normal size):

Wow.. I have never really looked at Hermes watches up close and they are just gorgeous! Such an interesting design and the MOP dials is 3D and beautiful.
Love it with both bands.
I can see why the Cartier Baignoire was such an inspiration as well.

I forgot to comment on your RG Rolex - is that a 36mm? I tried on a 31mm RG Rolex and loved it, but really want to see what a RG 36mm is like!

Here’s the 31mm RG with comparison to 36mm SS:

:wavey:Hi Pomelo!
Thanks about my RG Rolex!
Yes.. it's 36mm. It's a bit "chunky" but I wanted to get the 36mm as I really like the baguette markers at 6:00 and 9:00 and the day of the week which are both only available on the 36mm Day Date and not on the 31mm Datejust.:)
I like both sizes on you! Maybe the 31mm better? Can't go wrong with either.

Ooh I didn’t notice there were functionality differences too, thank you @Rubies-R-Me !

I definitely need to try on a 36mm in RG now!

This is the watch that I need an extra link for. The Panthere 1925. The description said it fits a 6” wrist, but I have a 5.5” wrist, so obviously they measured incorrectly . It fits, but it’s tight. I’ll let you know what Cartier says.
