junebug, I LOVE your set! Can you tell us a little about it?
thank you so much Laila, I am so honored that you like it! My husband purchased this from an vintage/antique jewlery store and was told that it is circa 1920's - 30's. The diamond is GIA certified, G color, VS1. He basically just thought it was a really pretty set and bought it on the spot! I fell in love with it the second I saw it! Full of sparkle and life. After I received the set I stumbled upon Pricescope and came to realize that the cut of the diamond is a little off. My husband is aware of color and clarity, but doesn't know too much about cut (neither do I!) In fact, I posted a question about it and was told by several very kind PS'ers that older diamonds may be cut differently, and basically not to worry about it and just enjoy my ring, which is what I've been doing! I also started wondering about it being from the 20's or 30's because it has a modern 6 prong head, so I emailed the jewelry store and was told that the rings are from that era but were damaged so they had to do some work on them. Not sure what was actually done, but I'm thinking the head was probably added on. The rings are in pristine condition, and yet at the same time do have an "old" look to them. Actually, they're a nice mix of old and new. So it's a bit of a mystery, but the bottom line is it's a lovely set that I am so proud to wear! I may start a new thread and post more pics, just for fun lol! Yikes, sorry for writing a book, and thanks for asking about my rings!

I'll play....

One old (the 'barely there' plain band. Was made to fit underneath the edge of my original ER. I'm happy I can still wear it with the new one).

One new - Jeff White unheated sapphire. Setting by WF. (made to replace the one I "lost").

I have been trying for weeks to post pics of my set. It''s not the best pic, and it doesn''t show all the fire and sparkle it has. Now that I''ve got this figured out I will have to try and get some hand shots.

you set starfire - remember sometimes 'less is more' - your set is a timeless classic and won't go out of fashion when the next trend comes along. You can always add an anniversary band later down the line if you like

Shopaholic, love your sets. Truly elegant. May I know more specs of the diamond and your finger size. I only try to gauge how it would look on my finger. Thanks!

Why thank you Joelly! It's a 2.52ct F VVS2, GIA cert. ideal triple Ex. diamond, set in a platinum cathedral basket four prong ring ~ 2.5mm width. The band is Tiffany & Co.'s 3mm Lucida platinum band (very comfortable to wear). I wear size 6 - 6.25, these rings are size 6.25 because I do not like it when my finger looks squished in.

The only specific specs I can remember are that the diamond is around 8.7mm and has no fluorescence, I can't remember all those angle and percentage numbers and the cert. is in a safety deposit box.

I got a sapphire band at the last gem show (hence the ''OK'' hand stamp), and I was surprised that I liked the two together.
Your engagement ring is gorgeous!
