And not to take credit for being creative, I used this ring below as the initial inspiration. It's from a several years old for sale listing on LT or DB. I can't remember which.

Red spinel center and diamond trap sides. Sorry it’s a bit a dirty. Need to clean my rings!

This ring is absolutely phenomenal! Is it to early to call dibs?! :kiss2: Step cuts are my favorite! Please share more pictures!

Haha. It’ll be awhile before this one goes for sale I think.

@MakingTheGrade your avatar looks rather special. I don't have the skills to blow it up to full size. Would you be so kind as to post a full size image, and whilst you're at it, give us a few details?:love::love:

A garnet from Barry Bridgestock. I haven’t received the ring yet but the photos look just as I wanted! I’m very excited for it! These are David’s photos except the hand shot.

^ Swoonworthy ... love the split shank and those lovely tab prongs!

Thank you so much for the complement! I can’t remember the exact dimensions of the garnet, around 10x8mm. So it’s a good size & I wanted the stone to be the focus.

@partgypsy -

I am considering a ring very like your new 3 stone, using my new, petite AVR (64 pts). Would you mind sharing your finger size with me?

Thank you so much!

Mrs-b the ring is sized a 6. As I can also wear a 5 3/4 and the shank is thin versus thicker it is a tad loose on me.

Thanks, @partgypsy! I'll let you know if I make any progress on my own project!

In the meantime, here are three DKJ pieces - 3.05 F VS2 ACA with 2 x .62 G VS sides (I think that's correct - I might be out on the ctw of the sides, but if so, it's only a point either direction) - 4.3 ctw in 18 kt and rhodium plated platinum. Also, 9 stone anniversary ring - approx 1 ctw, F/G VS stones, ideal cut. And - 1 x 2mm 18 kt slim band.

My new set, with 10mm August Vintage I /J OEC moissanite in platinum. Inspired by an original art deco ring. DKJ did an amazing job. 20181112_080630.jpg20181112_083450.jpg
That is just absolutely stunning! Amazing work. Congratulations!
I bet it is totally thrilling to wear!

@InsecureSweetGirl Hey, you! How's your project going? I just wanted to post my set here so people can see how an inspiration pic can lead to a final product that's still uniquely yours. Yes, I love wearing this! Many rings on this hand over the years, but this is my favorite!:rolleyes2:

The shank and prongs remind me of my baby. She’s lovely.

I appreciate the comments everyone. As I mentioned, the jury is still out but so you can see what I was trying to achieve the ring and photo are from Lang but the ring was already sold and way too big, about 5 sizes, anyway. More of a burnished or antique look for the design and not black.

I am looking at your ring with great interest as I just started working on a repro of the same « flavor » and era with DK. I like the idea of letting a ring gain patina over time to more closely resemble the inspiration. For me, the black looks a bit too fresh, but it is a very striking ring!
Do you think rings of that era may have had the more striking contrast when they were new and that is what he was capturing?
It looks very nice, very at home on your finger. Is it comfortable?

Yes, it is extremely comfortable. And I find myself wearing it a lot. I agree, the black is "fresh" which is what took me by surprise. But I also know it took Amy by surprise. I assume they sent it off to be "antiqued" and this is how it came back which neither she nor I were expecting. They said they could remove the black and try to make it more like the original (with brown, I think), but the black started to grow on me so I've kept it at this point. I also think the black will soften with time. I was looking for kind of a burnished look like the original but I have no idea if that could be accomplished in a new ring. I'll be interested to see what you ask for, and how it turns out. For now, I'm keeping mine as it is. Different than what I expected, but I like it nonetheless.

Lookin, thank you for the follow up! It helps so much. David very faithfully replicated the feel of the original antique engravings, which is impressive. Many benches would make the engravings perfectly precise; machine produced, which lacks the soul. You definitely picked the right bench for your project, and that is giving me even more excitement about a project! : )
What karat is the gold? Thank you.

@Jimmianne, it's 14k. I wanted to keep it less bright than 18k if that makes sense.

@Lookinagain I'm late to this thread but wanted to say I adore your antique ring! I've also covered that Lang's one for a long time, and it's saved in my inspiration folder :) I can see how the black was a surprise, but imho is gorgeous!!! I hope you're still wearing it a lot and that the black is growing on you :)

I posted in the 2 week waiting thread but I thought I would add pictures here, also. This was a birthday gift for my Mom for a milestone birthday this year. Glamour shots and a hand shot.

Adding my cushion metal halo DK setting to this thread. It’s 18kt rose gold and platinum with a triwire band that cathedrals up to the head and 8 tiny claw prongs.

Agree this is amazing... is there a link to her story? Would love to know how she came to be <3

I have had many DK rings made, not sure if i posted these, but here are most not all... many have been re-homed or repurposed.. other than my Yellow EC Bezelled halo and cushion spinel.
