Since we''re looking at cakes on PS, thought it''d be fitting to see the cake toppers. Plus, I need some inspiration b/c I''m not thrilled w/what I see online.

Here's the cake topper I made- it's comprised of champagne, white, pink, and AB swarovski crystals on an acrylic S. It's more subtle in real life and very sparkly.

ETA: We also had this on the cake table, as it's too heavy & delicate for a cake topper.

Fi and I decided to go with a bit of a bird theme for the wedding. We have birds on our invites, so we ordered some bronze bird figures from Thailand (b/c they match the birds on our invites perfectly) and they will be placed atop our wedding cake to represent us. The figures are quite heavy to be supported by cake, but our cake vendor is a welder too and he said he could construct supports to keep the birds from crushing into the cake.

I like the idea of having non traditional figures as cake toppers. I was always appalled at the 'likenesses' of brides and grooms that ppl are willing to place atop cakes that cost hundreds and thousands of dollars. I'm probably in the minority, but I really think cake toppers that look like people are creepy

. I have seen cakes with metal or crystal monograms on top that look quite nice, and some just have real or sugar flowers on top that look simple and elegant too. Sorry I don't have any pics to share!

(how weird is that?? I was typing this and ppl already posted pics with examples. I'm slooowww!!!)

We aren''t having a cake topper because the cake will be pretty decorative already. We will be placing this on our cake table propped on it.

Haha Amberwaves, it is a feat of nature that I can actually post any pics. Widget taught me, though, so it's not like I could have figured out how to do so on my own

Amber~ Thankyou so much for that link!! That is something I've been looking for as well but the ones I was finding are just so expensive. I am also considering doing our first name initials with an ampersand in between and either keeping it plain if the letters don't look too plasticy/cheap or using my hot fix gun and putting crystals on them. But your trees are affordable, come in many "colors" and are so darling



ETA: Do you know that the base is light enough to go ontop of a cake, Amber? I'm looking at it and it looks significant whearas thier trees designated as cake toppers (the ones w the b&g have a much thinner looking base).

I just ordered mine yesterday and I''m so excited about it! I''ve having it custom made from the logo that Irina made for me based on my engagement necklace. I''ve used it as the "wedding motif". I found a company that does custom cut metal (or acrylic) cake toppers and they are cutting it for me. I should get the proof this morning!

Anyway, here''s the picture of the logo. The cake topper will be shiny metal and 5" wide, on the 6" cake. The whole cake will be 5 tiers.

Sohappy, I am not quite sure, I mean, the one I ordered is 5"X5" and the base is agate, and it''s pretty lightweight from what I remember. I told our baker what we''re bringing and she''s going to add something to give the top tier a little bit more substance. Honestly, I think it''s fine. It should be here in the next week, so I''ll let you know when it gets here!

i love the tree! i am thinking of doing a tree theme (inspired by my tree-ish ring). at the same time, since we want to make it a very Philly wedding, i was also thinking of using some version of the Love sculpture... i''m just getting ahead of myself now, but these are some great ideas!!

There are some pretty ideas in here! We had a Precious Moments figurine of the groom carrying the bride. I have severl others my mother bought me on several occasions, so now it''s displayed as part of the collection.
