Show your Star sapphires and rubies

Ah, Cruces! I have a good friend who lives there. Lots of art/music going on there!
Do you and @Bluegemz know that there is an awesome (and free) Mineral Museum in Socorro, at NM Tech? A very cool place to visit, if you have time when you are heading up I-25!

Thank you! Will do! (:

Maybe someday down the line we can meet up and go on a little gem joy ride spree!
Just looking and maybe a little buying...;)2
We all seem to like all the different types of gems and appreciate them even if theyre not immpecable in all aspects. Thats a special quality, to see the beauty where others don't.
I could see us getting into all sorts of trouble!

Anyways, you both are awesome and if you ever find any other neat little gemmy spots please do let me know (:

You are too sweet! Yes, we could get into lots of trouble and debt, too!
OK, I will share--It's my secret gem connection!
Don't tell anyone! ('cept @Bluegemz) This is my go-to gem shop. I have been shopping here for over 15 years.
It is literally 15 minutes from my home, and when I go in , I know I'm spending a C-note, at least.

Just a quick look at their facebook and i see yummy bubblegum kunzite cabs! Wee!

That is a great shop! One can spend a long time on there for sure. I’m in SF!

Same here...

P.S.
OMG, that shop! :roll2:
Me neither except those aquaintaces/ relationships with people who are in the trade, and that’s not the same. My husband has become slowly more influenced over the years, but it’s not as fun because his story is so connected with mine. It’s fun to see another persons gem story.

Adding a 32.76ct star ruby I picked up at the gem show today. The body color is somewhere between the first two photos with a lovely schiller that floats over the whole face and a well defined star in sunlight (I took these shots at night with a LED flashlight lol). I’m hoping to set it in a silver pendant of some sort. Any favorite silversmiths?

Such a fabulous size and presence! It will make an amazing pendant! I love the deep color and the proportions too.

@Bluegemz , I hope you received your star ruby and that it is everything you hoped it would be!
Lots of magical dust your way!

Hi @Garnetgirl ! Thank you for the dust. I still have not recieved it. It’s in transit between Zürich and us customs. The seller paid for priority but it seems to have cleared Swiss customs and then lingered in a shipping port for 2 weeks. An inquiry was made and they are sending tracking updates. I’ve read that Swiss post can be really slow around November/December but this is bad. It’s like having something sent from overseas with snail mail which takes 4 weeks or longer. Friday will be 3 weeks....ugh!!! Extremely frustrating!

I have not shown my latest star addition here, so here goes.... around 5 carats unheated/treated Burmese star ruby. I am in the process of designing a setting for it.it feels bad to have it live in a box, and I feel that the spirit of this stone is important for me in 2019. Color shifts between this and a more ‘pomegranate seed’ color depending.

Found these star sapphire rings on Etsy. The colored stones on the sides make such a fun/joyful look with stars...like a bowl of candies, especially worn together. I was thinking that this is a great way to use a star stone and add some fresh pop.

I attended my local Gem and Mineral show yesterday.
I picked up these two stars. The black one is 4.35 ct. and the blue one is 2.05 ct.

Really pretty! I love that silvery star on the black one. Any plans for these?

Rings, of course! I'll have to sit down and come up with a plan.
Hmmmmm.....What about both stars in the same ring?

By the way @Bluegemz, Nancy Attaway was at her usual booth at the show.
I gave her my condolences. I said that I was surprised to see her there. She responded that she has a lot of inventory to move.

Rings would be great!! You could wear them with your white ones:) now that would be an amazing look!
Oh that’s good to know. I’m planning on going today. Really looking forward to seeing her.

Here is a star sapphire which I think is a real beauty. It’s so crystalline and pure that it has a wrap around double star, which I’ve seen very rarely. And it’s such a nice sky blue, watery color. If I weren’t patiently waiting for my star ruby ring, I’d buy this. I just can’t get enough of these. One would think that one blue star is all one needs, but indeed that’s not working out lol. This one is just so celestial and magic. D09076F0-2179-49D9-BB34-7CE4C81771FA.jpeg960052D0-D512-4E70-9EC2-6CFA059D31D2.jpegB9E29314-8C2D-4719-B0BE-CB4C74ECFD5E.jpeg

What is the link for that Blugemz? I can't get it either but would love to just look at it!

Holy Cow! it is amazing. Pricey though! I am relieved that it ia so expensive!

Thanks for sharing. I worried that the star is not strong, complete or centred.
Sure:) I think the amazing thing is that the lower star seems to be stronger than the one which appears at the surface, as if the light comes from within. It looks centered to me, but one never can be sure without asking.

The little star ruby is finally done. Unheated, untreated Burmese origin around 5carats. By no means a perfect stone, but I love the ‘soul’ of it. Rose cut diamonds in platinum with a gold bezel. Very overcast today, so any star comes from the flash. Anyway, here it is.

Such a celestial beauty! Yay!!!!

Hey thanks, @ilovegemstones !

I find myself noticing that the energy differences between the star rings are immense.

The large blue ‘moonlight jelly’ is like falling into a watery abyss. Very dreamy and expansive. Almost beyond the confines of the self. It holds the most stone mystery to me.

The next size up is ‘sky star’ which is like a contained pool of water and sky, but contained in the way that a swimming pool is, with a clear boarder. That one is all about phenomena of luminous light interacting with the asterism in a micro dome. It’s like it has its own atmosphere in there.

This star ruby one is the most focused in energy, starting from inside the stone and the star, and moving out. It’s as if it has more of an erupting quality.

Finally, the little clear star ring, with the star jade, the ‘ghost ring’ is very unembodied, but yet has a reflection, like an echoe or a haunting spirit.

These days, the ruby feels most ‘right’ to wear. It’s so interesting to me how the feeling tones of life periods can be seen in jewelry choices!
