Hi everyone,

What are you wearing/did you wear to your shower and rehearsal dinner? I''m not sure what direction to go.

i think it depends on the tone of your events.

for my rehearsal dinner i wore a champagne knee length dress. formal yet fun. dh wore a black suit & burberry tie which sorta matched my dress color.
showers i dressed up a bit too, but not as much as the rehearsal dinner.

I have summer dresses for each of my showers because they are a little formal, but not over the top formal. My RD is so super-casual I''ll probably wear capris and a t-shirt, but haven''t decided yet. It''s at a catfish restaurant so I want everyone to feel relaxed.

Where is your RD going to be held? Is it formal?

I was just thinking this question myself as I forgot to plan an outfit for this Saturday''s shower! Of course, my RD dress is all picked out which is in 2 whole months!!!

I happen to also have my first hair trial the morning of my shower so I feel as if I''ll need to dress up just a touch more than I had orginally planned. No use wasting a (hopefully) good free hairdo lol. I''ll probably wear something from my closet but I have no idea what yet ;( While I think some more on it........here''s my RD dress. I recieved it in the mail yesterday but it''s a tad large so I''m waiting now on a different size. I''m so excited to wear it....it has all the qualities I was looking for (price, quality, color....white w/some black.....strapless or halter, and knee length).

Jcrow, good point about thinking of the tone of the events. Your dress sounds pretty! I hadn''t even thought of being so dressy, so I''m glad I started this thread!

Sumbride, the RD will be at my dad''s so I can probably wear whatever I want. I hadn''t thought of going too formal and figured my FI would just wear slacks and nice shirt so I guess some sort of dress would be appropriate. And I can''t think of anything in my closet so I guess I''ll have to do a little shopping!!

So Happy, your RD dress is great! That''s perfect timing to have your hair trial on the shower day!

What to wear, what to wear....

Anyone else? For those already married, what did you wear?

Come on ladies, I need some help here!! Ideas please!

I''ve had several showers. Let''s see...

For one thrown by friends of my mother, I wore a cute, but conservative black dress with tiny white polkadots. It''s a little longer than knee length. It came from Ann Taylor Loft.

For my Family Shower, I wore a bright pink, knee length dress with off the shoulder straps and a puffed out skirt with a little bit of crinoline showing.

For my work shower, I wore some nice white pants and a dressy aqua colored top from Loft.

For my lingerie shower/Bach. party I wore a super sexy black and white knee length dress that has a halter type top and comes pretty low in the front for what I am used to. I found it at some discount store like marshalls or TJ max or something.

I have one more shower, and it is an outdoor thing, so I am wearing a short 60''s looking print dress. It is a babydoll looking dress with a bandeau neck line. It is cream, yellow, avacado, turquoise, and brown, and I wear it with flip flops. I also used this one for an outdoor engagement celebration. I found it at Goody''s of all places for under $20.

For my Bridesmaid lunchon I have a white dress from White House/Black Market. It is strapless, but it has lacy straps you can add to it. It is super cute (I think it is in one of the current Dove Comercials)

And for the Rehersal, I have another White House/Black Market Dress. It is knee length and satin-y, and it is strapless with a 2 inch slit in the top that makes a "V" cut out (It reminds me of Jaders''s wedding gown a little in the top)

Most of the dresses are also coming on my honeymoon. It''s been nice having so many because I''ve had to attend wedding festivities for several friends this summer as well.

Thanks Fancy! I think I will check out White House Black Market. I''ve gone there before and never saw anything that really struck me but so many people suggest it that I''ll check it again. I could see it providing a great RD dress.
Ann Taylor... another great idea! I have one fairly close so I''ll check it out.
That''s a great point about being able to take them on the honeymoon. I could use some clothes for that, for sure!

Thanks again!

Anyone else?

Please

hi dixie,
i had a similar dilemma with our e-pics, as i am a shorts/t-shirts/sandals kind of gal so found myself at a total loss.
i had good luck at J Jill, meaning they had helpful salespeople that waited on me (hard to find) and made suggestions, and the clothes are very comfortable/casual yet still look nice.

my shower is at a friend''s house and is (by my request) very casual. i will probably wear white capris and a brightly colored tank sweater or something. i would love to find a cute summer dress though. it''s a bright/summery/luau type theme (also by my request, mainly so blender drinks would be appropriate!)

my rehearsal dinner, same issue- i am hoping to find a casual dress and some cute sandals to wear.

my big thing is, that while i want to look nice i need to be comfortable!

dixie, for my showers I wore strapless cotton dresses, one a-line, one sheath-style with grosgrain ribbon trim underneath the bust. For our rehearsal and dinner, I wore tan wide legged trousers with heels and a reddish-orange sheer SweetPea sleeveless top that had lots of sheer layers and tied in the front, hard to describe but basically it was dressy/casual. I wanted to look really feminine for my showers and a little more chic for the rehearsal dinner.

Hey Dixie :) Happy Friday!

Just wanted to say I believe I will be wearing that dress I posted upthread to the shower instead

The smaller size came in yesterday and it is so pretty. I just love it and i think it''ll look really nice at this event. I spoke to my moh yesterday and she said she was wearing a summer-y dress too so I feel like it''s more appropriate now.

This, unfortunately poses a bitty problem as now I''ll "have" to get something else for the rehearsal

. I guess me switching around my outfits is a good thing as we were planning on doing a brunch/lunch type thing anyway. That dress would''ve looked a bit dressy at brunch.

But yes, WHBM really makes some nice things. AND I was talking to a rep the other day when ordering my other size and she told me that they only make a certain # of each size of each style and then they don''t make anymore. That''s it. I thought that was kinda neat.........so my dress is unlikely to be seen on someone else. Yay!

Keep us posted on your outfit choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
