What did or are you going to wear to your shower. (Post pics!) My first one is April 8th (so excited!) and I have NO idea what to wear. Help!

I went to one a couple weekends ago and since it was decorated in her wedding colors (melon and strawberry) she wore a solid melon knit dress. I thought it looked cute!

That is a cute idea and I know that they are also decorating the shower after my colors (black, white, and purple accents). I wore white to our engagement party, black doesn''t seem "shower" like, so that leaves purple. I guess I''ll have to go shopping.

I just wore a cashmere sweater, skirt, and tall black boots

No matching to my wedding colors or anything.

Well, it might still be cold since it is in Ohio....so a sweater and skirt might work really well. I am not going to limit myself to a certain color with only two weeks left. I don''t have much time, but if I did just happen to find something perfect in purple....

Oh gosh, do I have to dress up?

Mine is being held at my mom''s house and it''s mostly just family and closest friends from HS (which is only 2 girls, I''m old...). I was gonna wear a new pair of jeans (skinny jeans--LOVE THEM!), new boots and top. Luckily, I know this is passable. It''s next weekend--I can hardly wait !!

FMIL said it was casual but nice. I don''t think jeans would pass unfortunately. Maybe just nice pants, argg...I don''t know.

Oh Tacori,
I know this doesn''t help you at all, BUT I love shopping for clothes!! It sounds like such fun shopping for an outfit to wear to your shower!

haha i must have been a freak because i just pulled something out of the closet the day of...no planning. it was a soft coral halter top and black matte wide leg cropped pants which i wore with snakeskin pinkyblack heeled sandals. i actually found a pic that shows the outfit, and my lei! attached here, i cropped out my sister since she may not want to be on the internet.

i wouldn't go too matchy matchy, aka with colors...but i'm also too lazy to match anything up to colors...heehe.

thanks for posting a picture Mara! Cute outfit. Early April in Ohio might not be halter weather but you are right. I am obsessing and its so silly.

I don''t think it''s silly at all!

My shower had a tea party theme, so I shopped for the perfect hat...which led to the perfect shoes, purse, and tank to accessorize a cute white pant suit my mom and I bought at Neiman''s while looking at wedding dresses

As for choosing the right outfit, pick out something you feel both pretty and comfortable in. Also, think of the theme of the shower--if there is one. You obviously don''t want to wear sweats to a wine and cheese shower or your nicest dress to a spa themed shower. If there isn''t a theme, I think a nice sweater and skirt or slacks is a great choice

Cute picture Mara! You actually look a lot like your avatar!

lol, my shower had a tea party theme also! Everyone had to come wearing big hats, etc. (I didn''t participate in the hat thing) I wore a black strapless dress with off-white trim--it was cotton, so very informal but cute. Some of the ladies really took the whole theme and ran with it...lace dresses, the whole 9. It was cute!

For some reason I always have embarassing stories

but whatever you choose, make sure you can lean forward and not flash everyone!

In my previous life (i.e. 1st marriage) I wore a very pretty black & white sundress, skinny little straps (but I did have bra on.) They had me sit on a little elevated stage at the restaurant and I guess I had to lean over a lot...someone was videotaping all of the cute little kids who were there and you can hear my mother shouting in the background "Jennifer, COVER YOURSELF!" By the end of the day I was flashing people just to piss her off.

tacori...my shower is April 8th too! I think I''m just going to wear jeans and a white crochet top...I''m not very "Dressy" by nature so I don''t want to shock anyone before the big dress day!

Oh and I live in Ohio too! Where are you at? I''m in Northwest Ohio. IF we''re close we could come to each other''s shower!

Hi Tacori,

Do you know if there is a theme to your shower? Or are your friends more casual or formal? Where will your shower be held? And what shade of purple are your colors? sorry for all the questions!

I wore a white skirt and light blue tank top for my shower, but it was in the summer during the day, so the attire was more relaxed...

Have you tried Nordstrom''s?

Good luck and let us know what you find!

Where do you live? I used to live outside of Toledo!!!

I wore a Tiffany blue button down shirt and black pants and boots to my shower (Chicago in September). It was at my family home so I didnt worry about dressing up too much, but I wanted to look nice for pictures!

This made me LOL...Mara must have just changed her avatar because when I looked at it (928 pm), it was a swirl of ice cream!

It''s in a suburb of Columbus. FI and I both went to Ohio University, but now we live in Charlotte, NC. How fun our showers are the same day! I am really excited.

My FMIL said it is casual but nice (ie no jeans). It is at somebody''s house. I went shopping today because my FSIL is in town and I got these really cute tan pants from guess and a black short sleeve sweater from banana so that is an option.

Cute Pic Mara! I have a necklace just like that one, except it''s lime green. It''s one of my favorites!

i just had my showers this weekend. For the fancy restaurant in SF on Saturday, I wore a modern dress (orange, brown, black, it sounds weird but looks great) and a black cardigan, black tights and black Mary Jane''s. For the family shower Sunday, I wore casual but nice clothes; slacks and a silk shirt, as most of the family were in jeans!

Aww, Mara, you''re so pretty! Your e-ring looks *huge* in that picture! :)

Haha I know I saw that...it's an optical illusion!! I wish it looked that big alla time. OH and that was my smaller 1.29c stone!!

Mara- I was wondering if that was pre or post-first upgrade.

update: I just got home from Ohio and my shower went SO well. It was so much fun and not at all akward or stressful like I thought it would. I was nervous for some reason. We had a bridal word scramble and they asked FI a bunch of questions before hand and then asked me the same questions. I did surprisingly well. I ended up wearing tan pants, a chocolate brown jacket (since it was cold) and a striped tank. Looked good. Thanks for all of your advice!!!

ETA: now the hard part, the thank you notes!
