Shower gift etiquette question

My shower is not until the 22 of August. I have already recieved a few gifts in the mail from my registry. Am I supposed to open them now, and send a thank you? Or wait until the shower? The gift I recieved today is from someone who will be attending my shower. Thanks a lot!

Save yourself some trouble and open them now and send the TY gift. Just don''t use them yet.

I would agree with this for wedding stuff, but for shower stuff the whole big thing is opening the presents in front of people, so I might save it and bring it to your shower.

ooh, i had the exact same question, i also received some presents even tho i haven''t had my shower yet, some of the boxes are quite large, does it make sense to bring them to the shower?

I was wondering the same thing. Since one of the boxes is a slow cooker and the other is a blender. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. I guess I am not the only one who is unsure. I just wanted to make sure I wouldnt be doing a huge etiquette no no. I called the person who sent the gift to tell her I had recieved it and she told me to just open it now.
