As I have said here before, I cannot bear the abuse of the helpless: the elderly, children, the developmentally delayed or others institutionalized and at the mercy of their caretakers, animals. I am afraid that this, and the atrocities endured by helpless millions in war, poverty, and natural disasters that has made me lose my faith in God. I feel helpless in the face of so much suffering and the need for so much more human generosity, empathy, and love. When one adds natural disasters and the natural ills of life into the mix of misery endured by humans (and, indeed, all animals)...well, it makes me sure no one caring could be "in charge".
