Silver shoes with an ivory dress?

I think I''d get more use out of silver than gold or ivory after the wedding, but will it clash?

I''m having warmer colors (brown, champagne, sage). My dress has a champagne sash and I just ordered (and received!) fabulous gold shoes.

Hmm...I usually think ivory should be paired with gold, but it definitely could be nice. It would also depend on what type of shoe...I think a strappy sandal in silver would probably look better than a close toed silver shoe. Just speculating here, of course. I''d have to see the shoe and the dress to decide!

I thought about silver shoes with my ivory dress (well it isn''t so much ivory as off white) becaues it has "Platimun" embelishment (or so the description says). In the end I went with matching shoes, but I don''t think it matters too much because they won''t be visible anyway.

I wore strappy silver shoes with my light ivory dress ... but the dress did have some silver embroidery on it. Even without the silver embellishments, I still would have gone with the silver strappy sandals. I didn't want to buy a pair of shoes to wear just once. My wedding was 05/20/07 and I've already worn my silver shoes 2-3 times since then. Yay for getting more than one use out of *something* from the wedding

I like gold with ivory. I wore bronze shoes for my wedding and have since worn them again. But then again no one will see your shoes so it doesn''t really matter.

It would be easier to give an opinion if I saw them in person, but I think it could be a very nice look. I agree with thing2of2...strappy sandals would probably look better.

I managed to find strappy sandals in ivory with teeny tiny ivory iridescent sequins all over them and they looked great with my dress. I''m not a fan of wearing silver metallic with an ivory dress, though. I would try to find something in ivory to match your dress or go with gold or bronze. Imo, ivory needs warmer toned accessories to really complement it.

I''ve seen gorgeous silver embellishments on ivory dresses before and it looked lovely. Perhaps that''s an indication that silver shoes with your ivory gown could look very nice together

Good point so_happy. I''m remembering now that my tiara (and it wasn''t a crazy tiara like I was going to a prom, lol) and earrings were ivory pearls and white metal, and my ivory dress did have embellishment that could''ve been considered "silver" in color, so Basil, if your dress has different tones as far as embellishment maybe silver would work. Any pics of your dress you could post, and the shoes you are considering so we could help you out more?
