So I researched and the last update for What size studs would you wear everyday was 2009.....So since your last post has your opinion changed. I know I started out with .75 pointers and now wear 1.21 each ear everyday and am finally happy with size. Many out there might have jobs or life styles where they prefer .50 each for every day and 2.00 each for partying.

Where do you stand with your studs. or you can add how many times have you upgraded and are you done..........?

My opinion is 1 carat each year or 2ctw......................and yes DS....I noticed your post that you might be considering upgrading your current studs (which I know you spent a long time selecting) not meaning to point you out it just got me thinking about stud wear. hOpe you don't mind.........

I wear 1ctw everyday and I rarely take them out. I don't know if I'd wear much bigger studs than that everyday - I feel like my e-ring is already quite large for my area and I'm always conscious of being ostentatious at work. Maybe 1.5ctw max. I have no plans to upgrade or change my studs anytime soon!

I started out wearing .5ctw every day. They were a college graduation gift from my parents. Last year I upgraded to .9ctw, another graduation gift from my parents, this time for finishing my Ph.D. They said next upgrade is on my SO so I can't imagine it will happen anytime soon since I'm upgrading my ering now :appl: :appl: , and at this point I'm feeling sentimental about them so wouldn't want to switch. But give me a few years and I'm sure DSS will be in full force and sentiments out the window!

I wear 1ct in each ear so 2ctw and feel I carry off 1.5 to 2 ct in each. An upgrade is on my wish list. Here's a pic for real life perspective.

My largest are 1.1 in each ear, I had to check the paperwork to confirm the size. I prefer smaller. I really wanted these at first (they were my mom's), but have found I just don't like to wear them daily.
I've never picked out my own, but I think I'd prefer .5 - .75 ct each and maybe a cushion or Asscher in a nice milgrain bezel...I have some 1 ctw MRBs that I wear daily.

Here's a pic of the 2.2 ctw.

I wear my 2.41ctw studs nearly every day. I love them! For my meaty earlobes, they are a great everyday size. Since I have dark hair, I feel like they are still visible even when I wear my hair down. I was actually just thinking the other day if I'd ever upgrade these, and I'm not sure I will. I'd need to upgrade to somewhere in the 3-3.5ctw range for the visible size difference, and that is just much more than I want to spend on studs.

Before these, I started with 1 ctw. Instantly, I knew they were too small for my earlobes. Then I upgraded to some 1.6ctw studs. I loved those, but I never felt like they had the presence I wanted. Now that I have these 2.41ctw, I'm really happy with the size.

My dh gave me my current studs over 8 years ago for Christmas. They replaced smaller mall store studs that he had given me when we were dating (probably 6 years prior to THAT!). The current pair is .44 ctw, and we are actually meeting with our jeweler tomorrow to discuss upgrading a bit. I would like .65-.75 ctw, but I don't know if going any larger would look good on my earlobes. I don't want them hanging off the edge, and I have small earlobes. I will have fun trying some on tomorrow and come back to let you know. ;)

I don't know if I posted in that other thread, but I did have .82 ctw ACAs back then and they were amazing but I felt they were over the top for some social situations so I didn't wear them all the time. Now, I have .64 ctw BGD signature stones and they are perfect for daily wear and fine for work. They might not be entirely appropriate for my line of work but they don't stand out because I have really big earlobes.

I have a smaller pair of .50 ctw studs that are great for activites, too. I'd like to get a pair around 1 ctw so I'd have three pairs for different functions/social events because on the smaller sizes, .10 ct per stone makes a huge difference in appearance.

I'm glad to read that... I'm looking forward to trying on a couple of different sizes tomorrow, but I wondered if upgrading from the .42 ctw to .65 ctw would make enough of a difference for the price... it sounds like it will, especially on small earlobes. I wear a size 7.5 ring, so I need to celebrate the small earlobes and what they do for studs since I can't say that for finger size! :twirl:

I upgraded from 0.00's to .78ctw's! When I tried them on, I really felt these were the best size for me and were centered on my ear lobes better than the larger sizes. Of course I will go back and try on larger sizes sometime - I am a PS'er, after all! - and I may change my mind some day. I am still more of a hoops girl though, and even though I feel perfectly comfortable wearing my studs as everyday earrings, I probably only wear them about 7 - 10 days per month.

I started with around 0.71 ctw and now have around 1.6-1.7 ctw...I think. They are OECs and not weighed outside the setting. The first pair I knew the exact weight and not knowing these is driving me crazy! My other pair which were bought in 2008 I think were 4.3-4.4mm and these are just barely under 6mm each.

Thanks alllll for participating I am obsessed with peoples journey on size et al.

Thanks so much heididdl for creating this thread. I sure hope others keep posting! Invaluable to us newbies!

I started out with .50 tcw. I loved them and wore them often. Last year I bought a pair of .96 tcw AGS0. I love them I have 2 holes in each ear and wear both pairs most days. I hope to upgrade to maybe 1.5 tcw. That's in the future. :appl:

Ha ha, I tend to gravitate toward stud threads! :)) I love studs!!

I don't know if I participated in the 2009 thread (most prob did), but I had the same sized studs then, albeit ones of a lower colour. So my daily are 2.37ct and 2.36ct; I absolutely puffy heart them   though I must admit at times they seem a little big! :o . Seriously, I mean at one point in the past I was considering 3ct each studs (what was I thinking, must have been off my head lol). These days, I think if I wore 1.5ct each that would be absolutely fine. I frequently see women wearing what must be 1-1.5ct each and they seem just "right".

I blame DS (yes, DS :wink2: ). DS says that studs should be approximately half the size of your e-ring.

Ha ha, I am not blaming DS - at all. Just kidding around, lol.

My first set of studs my DH bought for me when I turned 21. I think they are .50ctw and though lovely I never wear them. I would like 2ctw studs but my MIL has a pair and I know they will one day be passed down to me. So I haven't really looked seriously into buying a pair. However this year they are my only jewelry project I really want, but I want 1.5-2.25ct old cuts studs, either OEC's or Trannys in a higher color- nothing below J. We saw see what happens.

My beginner studs were .60 ctw BGD Signature J's. After meeting several PSers IRL at a GTG I knew I had to upgrade :naughty: I caught a bad case of SSS-Stud Shrinkage Syndrome ;))
I traded up my originals for BGD Signature 1.00 ctw H's. So far so good, I never take them off except to clean them and think they are the perfect size for everyday wear for me. I don't plan on upgrading, but would like a set of blingy jackets.

Mine are .55 each and I love the size. I've never thought of upgrading them because the small size goes with jeans and with dress clothes. I tried a larger pair of CZ's when mine were at the jeweler, but didn't like the droopiness and the extra weight. Definitely a personal preference though as all of you look great in the larger ones.

I wasn't on PS in 2009, but I started out wearing 1.43 ctw studs that my husband I picked out 9 years ago. I then upgraded to 3ctw studs a couple of years ago. I wear my studs everyday and I don't even own another pair of earrings! I don't see upgrading again as I think the current size is perfect, but I guess never say never! ;)

That's okay, Phoenix! I don't mind taking responsibility for influencing you on stud size! I really like that proportion of stud to e-ring diamond size (and the studs can be larger but I don't like a diamond in the ear to be larger than the e-ring diamond, obviously!)!

In fact, that is what brings me to my current dilemma. I had a 1.6 ct diamond and my studs were 1.6 ctw, perfect. But now the e-ring is 2.3 cts and that means my studs look small in proportion. The killer is that a 1 ct stone costs about double the price of a .8, which is soooo sad for that little bit of difference!

I have had the pleasure of seeing mom2boys studs in person, and they are absolutely gorgeous!!! I get to see her again in June and look forward to seeing her acquisitions from the past year!!!

Heidi, I love the topic and am glad you started it! Honestly, I think studs is the next most important diamond jewelry to have after the e-ring.

DS has DSS DS has DSS DS has DSS.......................I totally understand. I love my 2.41 but 3 would be bigger but I have to contain my self. with the stud to ering ration I should have 1..75 each ear hubby would drop dead. So I'll just wait for my pink stacking band or maybe pink earring jackets.

I guess I'm the odd one out. I like my little 1/2ct TW pair for everyday wear plus a .25tw pair in my second hole. I'm planning (hoping) on upgrading my BGD studs this year to closer to 1ct TW from the .68 they are. When I wear these with the earring jackets hubz got me from IDJ its honestly all the bling my ears could ever take and look credible for the lifestyle I lead and the area I live in.

I did just "upgrade" my OEC studs the other week (still need to take pics) from .4tw to .8tw and have been wearing those pretty continuously. It's a great size for me for everyday though my heart still has a special fondness for the little guys that came out of the settings too...

Okay, I will admit to having giggled out loud

DS, I have the same opinion re. proportions of Ering centerstone and studs. Studs and rings are the only jewellery I wear regularly, and I felt that my old 1ctw pair were just too small in comparison. My 2.7 stone and 2.5ctw studs fit well together - it's a mind-clean combo!

That said, from a purely aesthetic perspective, I have large earlobes that could easily handle 2ct each. Mom2boys' are my dream pair  but I know that I'll never get the complementary 4ct centerstone ::)

Lol, Heidi! And the size of your studs is FINE with your ring! If I go larger, it will be to 1 ct or just under (if I can find the stones), so mine will still be a little less than the e-ring ctw.

Yssie, I definitely am not getting a larger e-ring ( let's hope I can stick to this statement!), so I think I would be safe with one more upgrade. I love your studs! The settings are sooo beautiful and what I'd choose for OEC's!

Let me just add that I love all sizes of studs! Even little ones are charming when well cut and give off great sparkle!

Baby monster, I don't know her answer, but I think studs at 2 cts+ need the security of more than three prongs. Her settings are perfection for those diamonds.

I will have to add that Jill, Harper, and baby monster's pictures really confirm to me that those are the size to which I aspire!!!

I also have some Tiffany baby bezels (.2tcw) that I got in college and I've worn them everyday for the past 7 years in my 3rd hole. As much as I love my "main" pair - my babies are my first pair of diamond earrings and they sparkle like crazy and I will love and keep them forever.

I have Tiffany baby bezels too - mine are 0.1ctw. They were a surprise gift from my ILs and I adore them ::) I only have one piercing in each ear so they share playtime with their big sisters - probably right about 50/50 actually

I couldn't find a pic of your studs posted on PS. Would love to see for a size comparison.
