I had such a great day yesterday!
I am visiting fiance this week, so I drove to my mom''s house yesterday while he was at work. I got to try on my dress finally! It fit (phew) and just needs minor alterations, so I am really psyched. I hadn''t tried it on in about a year (and that was a sample), so I was so relieved that I still loved it! I have pictures, but they are stuck on my other computer, so I''ll post them later today or tomorrow.
Then we went to meet with a lady who is going to do our invitations, probably. She was very nice and had great ideas. Plus, she is going to incorporate a design that my grandmother drew for my mother''s wedding invitations for us!
We then took a trip over to our venue to have a second meeting with the florist. I hadn''t met with her in about a year, so I had been starting to get nervous that she didn''t "get" my vision. She put up a new website and I was a little discouraged because everything seemed kind of...typical. Bouquets of roses and hydrangea, etc. Whereas I wanted something really natural with kind of a wildflower look. Plus, our colors are red and green which I think is a challenge since I don''t want it to look Christmas-y.
But it turned out that she is a total sweetheart! The first thing she said is "Oh, your wedding is my favorite wedding we have booked, so I hope you didn''t decide to change your choices. So many people choose typical rose and hydrangea bouquets so I am really looking forward to doing yours!"
She suggested a few extra elements - she is doing a garland for the mantlepiece, a few very simple arrangements for the cocktail tables. And they are moving 2 large ceremony arrangements, a wreath, and a placecard table arrangement around after the ceremony for me. She was very honest - she never tried to talk me into extra flowers that she felt I didn''t need, and she had emailed me a new quote by the evening. So I''m feeling so much more confident in my choice of florist.
Oh, and I almost forgot that I got to try on my wedding ring, too! It finally feels like stuff is starting to come together...phew...
