I spoke to Jonathan on Tuesday,he said there is alot of interest in the stone but he will only accept offers from viable sources . He did say a pro football player is interested and wants it for a stud earring. He also said this is the busy season and feels it will sell soon.
Is it lame that I think this would be awesome? I guess I am a little star-struck haha... but if I were you I would think that was really neat.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

It would be awesome but he won`t tell me the name of the player and I respect that..He did say he plays for one of the local football teams.I am dying to know who it is.This is so cool!!! I never considered the stone being set as a diamond stud earring , I thought it was too large for that.Whoever it is he must be a really big guy.

Let's hope so! Was your father a football fan? I imagine most guys would be tickled pink to know that something they had worn and loved was now being worn on a pro football player's earlobe!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

My dad was a die hard New York Giants fan but lets not get ahead of ourselves here, he didn`t buy it yet, he is thinking about purchasing it.I don`t know what team he plays for but It would be awesome if this player bought regardless what team he is on.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I don't want your gorgeous diamond to be an earring! That gorgeous stone belongs in a ring, IMO! (If only I had a spare $20k to ensure that happens! :cheeky: ) Good luck on your sale, even if it does end up as an earring!

Point taken :wink2: . I trust that whoever ends up with that beauty will appreciate it and give it a good home!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

No deal yet. The pro football player bought a matching set of studs for a lot more money .The problem was finding a stone to match in size and color.Boy, this is getting complicated.Feeling a little frustrated !

I'd post it on diamond bistro with a link to the listing at GOG. I had my ring on consignment with JbEG for about a month or two and once I posted it on DB with a link to JbEG, it sold in a few days. Extra exposure can't hurt. :)

Try to be patient- it will eventually sell- its a gorgeous stone!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I spoke to Jonathan on Friday to get his take on why the stone didn't move.I even suggested to lower the price a $1000.00 but he feels very strongly that the stone is priced right. He said " a 3 carat stone at $20,000.00 is a good buy in this market".He also said it is just a matter of finding the right person for the stone.I am just wondering if there is more we can do to market the stone better.I don't want to put it on another internet site because it is too risky.I am considering asking Jonathan to mount it in a black rhodium setting with some smaller stones around it. That will look awesome!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

Do you have more pics? I also think more pics would help!!!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I don`t have any more pictures .I think the video that Jonathan posted on you tube and also on the Good Old Gold website is awesome . They are great pictures and quite informative.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I wouldn't spend any additional money setting it at this point. Most likely whomever buys it would change the setting anyway. I agree that it is a good price and would go with Jon's suggestions. Of course, if you are really want it to move it quickly then lowering the price would help do that IMO.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I am considering a price reduction. If there is no serious offers by Valentines Day I am going to tell Jonathan to lower the price.I suggested it after the Christmas season but he felt it was priced right so I left it alone .He did say that there was a serious buyer a couple of weeks ago and I told him to make the deal but I think it fell through. It is time to move on.

Carmine, since you are mentioning price reduction for Valentine's why not honor it now?? so there are not a bunch of people wondering what your new prices is? just thinking out loud here.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I spoke to Jonatahn and the new price will be posted on the website along with the Y-Tube video.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I hope the price reduction will result in a speedy sale!!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I hope you do find a buyer soon. If price is the stumbling block, I am not sure $1000 reduction will do it though :blackeye:

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

The diamond market being what it is today I really don`t know why it hasn`t sold.I understand that a warm colored OEC is not for everyone , most people prefer a whiter RB stone but the faciting on it is unbelievable. Jonathan`s video really truly shows the stone`s brilliance .In the right mounting it would be awesome.Maybe I should have left it in its Platinum setting.I don`t know any way as the saying goes" it is what it is". The only thing I can change is the price so I did, lets see what happens.

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I'm positive it will sell, even at the higher price, but it may just take a little more time. Lots of luck, it's a beauty for sure!

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I am thinking about another price reduction. I hope it will help . I would like to get opinions from people who were interested in buying the stone and what was your reasoning to opt out.I know there was someone very interested a few weeks ago but they bought another more expensive stone . The stone was an 3.09 M color and the asking price was$ 25,000.00 . I don`t know who it was but she is a member on pricescope. I don`t know what she paid for the stone but I can tell you I got a call from Johnathon asking if I will accept $18,000.00 and I said yes and she went for the other stone.I would appreciate any feedback on why it is taking so long to sell .
Thanks !

Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

It is a stunning stone- way out of my price range

Re: Stunning Old European Diamond for Sale

I'm not in the market for the stone but it's an outstanding diamond. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't sell. I think you just have to wait for someone to come along who falls in love with its unique characteristics. Lowering the price, unless it's overpriced, isn't going to make that much of a difference (unless you price it so under-market that it's a steal). You can't rush the timing, only increase its exposure. It is a stunning diamond. Are you in a hurry to sell it? If not, I would leave it alone.

Best wishes,
Mikla
