Some progress - ordered the wedding band and dress (kind of)

Hi everyone!

I have been lurking here in the section for awhile and feel like I should be a little more active. I have been seriously dragging my feet with wedding planning since I got engaged in April. Our wedding is going to be next October - we're essentially eloping in Hawaii. My FI and I are going to sit down soon and decide specifically which resort we'd like to book a small wedding for us.

Just this past weekend, I actually made some small progress...

We ordered a beautiful wedding band (picture will be attached) and it's going to take about a month for it to be made, so I won't have the actual pictures for a while.

I also placed an order for a dress. I am not 100% sure on the dress - its from J.Crew and since none of the stores carried it, I took advantage of a free shipping promotion to order the dress - http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod86454251. I posted about the dress a while back, and still really like the simplicity of it. I figure if the dress does not work, I can just return it to my local J.Crew store (I called to ask about the return policy before placing the order). I hope to have the dress in a few days, and will try to post pictures then. If the dress does not work, then I have three Nicole Miller dresses that I am trying to decide between. I really love the price on the J.Crew dress, whereas the Nicole Miller dresses, while doable for our budget, is significantly more than that. I will post pictures of the NM dresses as well.

Hi!! I just wanted to say that I can''t wait to see that JCrew dress on you, I have always loved that dress and I can''t wait to see it on a real person! Make sure to post lots of pics!!!

I also really like the second Nicole Miller dress that you posted, it''s really gorgeous. The third one is really similar to the JCrew, maybe if there is something about the JCrew you don''t like, that one could be perfect.
 
I know this may be counterproductive since you already ordered the JCrew dress, but I love that second Nicole Miller dress!
 
Thanks for the input...I ordered the J.Crew dress since it''s a catalog/online only exclusive, and I really wanted to see it in person, especially since it resembled the third Nicole Miller I posted. My only hesistation with the similar NM dress is that I really don''t like the straps on the back of that particular dress. If the J.Crew dress does not work, then that second NM is high on my list. I''ve tried it on a few times, and really like it...but, I can''t get over the price for it. I feel guilty spending so much money on a dress when my FI and I are essentially eloping. But then again, our friends and family have said that I should just pick whatever I want since the cost of our wedding won''t be as high as a more formal wedding.

In any case, I will try to post pictures when the dress comes in...hopefully, without my FI hanging around.

I agree with them. Maybe it''s not a big wedding, but it''s still YOUR wedding and it''s still your one wedding dress. After all, how many times are you going to get to elope with your fiance?

But maybe the J Crew one will work out.
