Some spessartite photos

I just wanted to post the picture of the spessartite I bought in my jewelry making class. It''s not such a great cut but I love the bright orange color. I''ll probably set it in silver one of these days. It was only $25.00. Not sure about the carat weight, but it''s 8x8mm.

Here it is next to the one from Gene at Precision Gem ( in the ring) , and one with some darker tones, and a very light one.

To be honest, your new trilliant spessartite caught my eye far longer than the other 3 spessartites. It is bright, transparent and the colour is vivid. I'd say you got a good price for it.

I totally agree. That gorgeous blood orange color is awesome! I look forward to seeing it set!

I know you like silver, and I''ve seen some gorgeous silver rings on this board, but IMHO, that trillion spess really deserves a nice 18K yellow gold setting. It''s really beautiful, and you didn''t buy that stone, you ''stole'' it for that price. Congratulations!!
