Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

Very interesting! The price is good. I had no idea that this company has natural diamonds, I wonder if they are newly cut with antique shapes.

They have lots of natural. My guess is yes to newly cut

Does anyone recognize this makers mark?

I'm not sure about this - but I just tried to look up American hallmarks and I found this... Likely not right - but, thought I'd throw it out there.... Screenshot 2024-11-09 at 7.48.40 PM.png

Haha happy to “help”! I hope your star sapphire gets a lovely setting upgrade too. Please show us when that happens!

I’m quite excited to see it, I think it was described as an OEC but I don’t know how typical it is for that type of cut as it maybe looks a tiny bit off-round? Maybe it’s my eyes though.

Aww okay I will! It’s being shipped to where I will be headed for the holidays so I will be asking for loads of pics once it arrives from ebay authentication!

It’s an early OEC, bringing from the OMC, so it retains some of those older traits, like the very smaller table, high crown, very short lower halves (big pie slices in the center) and slightly cushiony outline. Likely cut circa-1880s if I had to guess.

After a brief stint being lost on a UPS truck, Willy is here! Please check out the thread on Rocky Talk and let me know what you think. My daughter’s reaction was “woah, mom!” Teaser photo below… I kind of like the feeling of 27 grams tho, I can not lie. IMG_0962.jpeg

Side note, I might get annoyed with the resellers but all the Instagram sellers deserve a shout out for their lighting, videos, and photography. It’s tough! And where do they get those perfect plants?!

I think this is a real antique. Might be girdle flea bites at top. I honestly don’t think a modern cutter could accomplish this!

Just my opinion.

But I have been wrong before! If anyone has an alt opinion that this is newly cut please tell us why. I’m truly curious. The gilded lane instagram above shows a similar antique diamond.

I think what you're seeing at 12 o'clock is the goop that holds the stone in place in the clamp for the video. There is definitely a little flea bit between 9 and 10 o'clock though. And then there's the frosted girdle. My feeling is it's an antique stone that's been cleaned up. It feels too clean to be a true untouched antique stone.

Ohhhh, you’re speaking my love language here … this recipe is my favorite flavor of all the old cuts… next to itty bitty Peruzzi’s of course ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah it seems like I mistook the holder artifact on the girdle to be flea bites. Good call.

These look vca-inspired

Alex sepkus pieces are so pretty

Nice hefty ring

I love that last one! And already sold.

TRR won't send me more pics of the makers mark I asked about above. How do folks get more pics from them???

Is it non returnable? If not, I’d just order it. TRR makes returns extremely easy. Pre paid pre printed label, drop at UPS. $15. Anyway, that’s one way to examine the piece. But it is a PIA especially if it’s pricey. Are you trying to authenticate it? Would you not want it if it wasn’t authentic? Just curious.

I mostly want to know the designer because it's the kind of piece that, if not done by a reputable brand, won't be good (not trying to be vague, but trying to avoid it getting purchased). So I don't care necessarily *who* made it, but only that it's one of the brands known for being able to make this kind of thing well

I have never been able to. I’ve asked on 2 separate items. There was an expensive item that I called and requested more photos on but they wouldn’t help me. I said f it and gave up on buying it.

Returns are easy but there’s a timeframe to return that’s relatively short. Shipping to my area + shipping back takes almost their entire return window since it starts the day it ships and not the day it’s delivered. They’ve also never ordered me a prepaid label. I’ve always had to buy my own + pay their restocking fee.

If it’s a high dollar item, here’s what I would do… call customer service and ask which warehouse it’s at. (The have one in NJ and one in Arizona, possibly more. Arizona is the big one now). Then I’d call the nearest TRR store and ask to speak to a salesperson. Tell them you’re very interested in the item but need a few more photos to confirm, ask if they can call the item to their store AND if they can put the item on hold until it comes in.

If on the east coast, I would not call the manhattan store. I think there is a Long Island store. The stores in highly populated areas are less accommodating in my experience, especially NYC.

If it’s a lower value item I would just buy it and evaluate at home. It will cost $30 in round trip shipping fees tho.

The time frame is 2 weeks once an item is shipped. then another week for TRR to receive the return, so 3 weeks effectively. Shipping is slow to me as well, typically 5 days to 1 week. That gives me 1 week of consideration and another week to return.

The issue with the return label is strange and worth a call to customer service.

Another thought @lovedogs , if you have a relationship with a salesperson they can ship items to you for free. I don’t know how to private message but I’m happy to share the name of the girl who helped me secure Willy. Just not publicly. :)

Every time I read about people’s experiences with TRR, I think about what a weird business model they have!

I assumed it was because of where we live. Shipping is always weird for us. It always takes forever, is almost never free, and sometimes I have to pay a surcharge just to get stuff.
