Oh my god! I love to see this, I was searching Oscar Heyman and came across this post.

I bought this! I wear it every day, it is my anniversary ring. I’ve been coveting carré cut eternity bands for several lifetimes, so I snapped this one up. I know this is an old post so unsure if anyone will see my reply but this just makes me so happy to see.

Do you have inspiration photos so we can (drool) I mean search for you? Are you looking for no heat Burma vintage? Size? Happy to keep an eye out.

I have my eye on something specific… it’s a Victorian piece with some very very old diamonds around it… she’s incredible… she’s not cheap though  … I’m not sure how I’m going to pay for it. I could work OT for a few years, win big at Wall Street Vegas, or feet pics

It is fab! First pic is today’s stack with 3 bands. The middle sapphire and diamond band is from @Zachary’sJewelry, the baguette band is from @SinCityFinds. Second pic is my daily stack with my OEC ER, which I got on eBay circa 2017 ish? Maybe 2018, gotta think too hard about that ha.

Also, been reading through so many threads on PS as I’m trying to figure out the best way to source a giant OEC for the cheapest possible and biggest bang for my buck, and listen, I feel like I’ve found my people. I’m constantly trolling jewelry internet and sending my friends things they need to buy asap so this SGBTP thread sings to my heart. I can’t believe I just now found this forum. I send my friends to PS for diamond education but hadn’t looked at the threads!IMG_2679.jpegIMG_2395.jpeg

IMG_4404.jpegWaiting on Whilimina. Final stretch and I broke my own rule and checked the Instagram sellers. Now my rules and heart are broken…. I was too afraid to buy this on TRR final sale $2075. Dolly snagged it (good for her) cleaned it up and it’s a no heat Cambodian sapphire and a beautiful white OEC. She has it listed for $6k. Not hating on Dolly, I passed on it. she did the work but grrrr, I could kick myself. Had to share. Now back to waiting I go.

This giant oec, how big are we talking? And what are you planning?!? We need details! - rather I do so I can live vicariously through someone so I don’t spend my savings right now lol… Other than random lucky finds on TRR, I say watch Guilded Lane, Dolly, Sin City Finds … but if that gives you too much anxiety, 47 Jewelers and Exquisite Jewelers (on eBay) had the best oec pricing when I was looking this past year, and they usually have some wiggle room, plus offer a wire discount.

Whoa I remember that now and I didn’t recognize it when I saw it on Dolly’s page! TRR photos are so bad

I used to be mad about resellers buying from TRR. Now that I'm more used to TRR I no longer feel that way bc OMFG trr has horrible pics, disastrous descriptions, essentially 0 helpful info about makers marks, etc. You have to gamble on pieces, and there isn't time to get something certified/checked before the return window passes. I'm super annoyed when I realized I missed a good deal tho haha

Such a deal for a really special eternity. I’m so glad you saw this and rescued it. I see you’ve posted excellent hand shots, thank you! Happy Anniversary!

All of that, but TRR doesn’t have a surly vendor on the other end trying to discourage you from returning things. It’s all business, no drama. Just make sure item is returnable and ALWAYS “look see” pieces you have been waiting for. There are many great things; wish I had a money tree to match!

I’ve been caught in “surly vendor returns” and abhor pressure from vendors for me to keep pieces to make them happy.

What does “look see” pieces mean?

Sorry, I mean always buy a RR piece to look at in person, if it’s something you’ve been searching and planning for.

It’s so easy comparatively. My opinion only.

Ah I understand now. I’m a big TRR buyer so yes it is comparatively easy (would love a longer return window but c’est la vie!).

Thanks so much for your response, this community is just so awesome, thank you for asking! I follow all these accounts you recommended, love buying jewelry on Instagram and recommend it to everyone but as you alluded, it’s not for everyone. I remember Dolly in the beginning times, started following Alex Park in 2019 and got a pair of asscher studs today from Alex, which were perfect. My wedding band is from SinCityFinds, she was the first I ever bought from on insta!

As for my next OEC, I want at least 9mm which is giant for me. Would love larger, yes, but $$, and my budget is only $10k, so likely 2.5-3 cts for that, but really the biggest possible. Figuring out what that means for color/clarity/cut. I don’t mind warmth and eye clean-ish as inclusions don’t offend me. I elaborate on those preferences below.

I have been attempting to gather info on pricing so I can know what’s reasonable. I couldn’t find the price per carat chart for OECs, only for rounds, and it doesn’t extend into all the warmer colors, lowest I saw in the 2-2.99 ct range is M/SI2 for $2812 per carat, while M/SI2 in 3-3.99 ct is $4298/ct. Supposedly there was data on price per carat for OECs up to 2021 but I couldn’t find the old chart. What about for lower color grades, like a combo of O-P and SI1 or VS2? If these numbers applied to OECs, I could afford something approaching a 3ct, maybe more, is my thinking. Am I way off base? I just wish I could see more data.

I want the biggest, prettiest stone I can get at that price. My budget may increase if I can sell some pieces to throw into the pot, like an Alex Sepkus band that no longer fits, and many other smaller ticket items. Never sold personal collection pieces tho, so I’m nervous about that.

I like warm stones and don’t care about perfect clarity, as long as the inclusions don’t compromise the stone’s structural integrity or are viewable from Mars. I even like inclusions if they are weird and have a story, like, it’s a garnet, or a cloud that resembles the Virgin Mary. My mother’s diamond had a black inclusion right under the table in the shape of Italy, and yes, she was Italian, and no, my father didn’t do it on purpose lol.

I saw a post from another PSer CharmyPoo about wanting their OEC for as cheap as possible, and it felt validating for someone to say that out loud. Like same girl same.

I acquired my engagement ring on eBay and it was missing a side stone. Although my center stone is imperfect, it’s still beautiful. It is a spready 1.4ct at 7.7mm, F, I1, has a flea bite, shallow with not the best cut. She was $995, and it was a miraculous find for us at that time in life. I’ve yet to find a deal like that since, and I’ve cherished that diamond with the original deco setting for 10 years. I’m not expecting that again, but I do feel ready for the hunt, and I want a deal.

I have some preferences - I like warm tones but not brown. Love an ivory pastel sparkle. However, I’m unsure of my absolute color tolerance, I think I could go into O-P, but these are untested waters. I love fluorescence because of the physics & chemistry behind the phenomenon (I’m a chemist, the science of gems and jewelry fascinates me). Lucky me that fluoro should reduce the price. My current diamond has strong blue fluoro and I love it in the sun it’s just so cool.

Now the last part - cut. Do I know that cut creates all the beauty? Yes. I know I should spend more dollars proportionally on better cut, especially since the cut is the worst part of my current diamond and I do wish it was better. But I want a big boi and I’ve yet to decide how much I can compromise on poor cut, especially knowing I want a large spread and have slim total carats to get there.

I like OECs and transitional cuts. I don’t like cushiony shapes as much. I don't have strong preferences for petal patterns or a need for pillowy crowns or kozibe effects. I love all those things, and I’m open to all. Really, it’s the culet that gets me, I could just drown in those cute little extra windows. Besides, it’s just the character and history of old cut diamonds that has captured my heart. Nothing else will do.

Anyway this was exhausting to type out if you read all this thank you I’m sure it was also taxing to read. I thank you for reading.

So what do you think? Is this possible? I found an eBay listing that was *close* but not big enough and sold, so I feel like it is doable? Here it was: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2359271965...s6d4ZyFQTe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

It’s not super low color or clarity, I asked for a video to evaluate cut but the stone sold in store. They sent an offer for $6999 when I put it on my watch list which I think was still a great deal, but I just wanted bigger.
