It’s a beautiful diamond..It’s not certified by GIA. It may not be an I..It could be a J, K, or warmer if it was certified by GIA. The EGL lab is usually off by one or two grades. The same goes with the SI2 grading. It could be an I1, I2, etc. I trust Ivy and Rose that it’s eye clean so you could order it and see it in person. If you like it you could also ask them to send the diamond to GIA. You would most likely have to pay for it…but maybe they would do half with you. I wouldn’t buy it without a GIA report.

Thank you! This makes sense. Being overseas, I‘m a bit hesitant making purchases for that amount, either way. My experience with Ivy&Rose on the other hand is great!

Unless there's a whole lot going on on the plot that just didn't translate into the image I cannot for the life of me figure out why this would be an SI2... ???

I still have my first pair of studs. They were sold to me as VS2s. I was really young so I didn’t question it. Decades later I had them appraised. They are SI2s. They are very sparkly and completely eye clean. You would never be able to see the inclusions with the naked eye. Even now seeing them under a loupe..the inclusions are scattered throughout the diamonds. The sparkle hides them.

@mrs-b found a SI2 cushion that she eventually passed on because she went in another direction. She posted to tell us to snap it up. I did. It’s one of my favorite diamonds. It’s completely eye clean and a sparkly fireball.
I also remember a person came here to show us her I1 pear. It was completely eye clean and gorgeous. They are out there and great finds!

I have been eying this one forever. I absolutely love the pattern and wonder what might be wrong with it, that no one snatched it up yet. Do I need another ring? No. Do I want it? Yes. So with the risk of someone actually snatching it away (which would free me from my dilemma), I post it here. IS something wrong with it?!

Do you love the setting?
I’d be wary of buying it with the intent to reset - especially since I/R states the inclusions are off to the very side and covered by the prong.

Good deal that the setting risk has already been taken on by someone else - for someone that loves the ring as is.

I think if one were inclined to sell stuff they buy down the road - this one with its pronged EGL SI2 might be a hard one to rehome unless sold at a screaming deal. I’m assuming that pronged inclusion is the grade setting inclusion.
Maybe I/R has a picture of it loose? My guess is not. But they have a great return policy from what I remember.
What ive seen of I/R glamour shots vs real life of eye clean stated stones, the glamour shots are very very forgiving.

Thank you all for the splendid replies. The thing is, that I would not want to keep it as a ring… I have too many already but would like to bezel set it for a simple pendant. The inclusions on the edge might indeed be an issue here. Thank you!

I love the pattern and I think it's beautiful. I don't think it's necessarily "a steal" at the price point so maybe that is why it hasn't been snatched? I&R has a great return policy. As someone mentioned, not having a GIA report should be taken into account.

Gah! I just looked this up on eBay and it went for $921. Good price?? I think I regret not bidding :(

Well that jumped in price quickly. It was $510 when I looked at it. I’m very curious to see what it looks like IRL.

Edit - or I guess just better photos.

I’m not surprised it jumped up because even though the stone was damaged and you’re basically just buying the setting, the setting is composed of 3 mm old cuts. I actually put a bid in for this but lost haha. I was hoping to get it on the cheaper side but I wasn’t surprised that it jumped up and I still think it’s a good deal for what it is in terms of the setting. That is if the stones are nice and sparkly.

Yah—I was thinking of taking a chance on it too if only for the old cuts and seeing if the setting could be salvaged. I hope whoever got it finds it a great purchase. The search for sparklies continues :evil2:

Same here! I watched this one and thought the final price was surprisingly low. I just wanted the melee but when I did the math on the measurements I’m not actually sure they were really 3mm.

I hope someone from PS purchased the old-cut zircon earrings. They're sold, otherwise I would have been sorely tempted, and am 50-50 on relief and disappointment. LOL!

Well, either this is a scam, or the previous buyer backed out, because the emerald ring is back. Listing now says 2ctw instead of 3ctw:

Interesting! I wonder why it didn't go to second highest instead of starting over?

Huh weird. I wonder if the seller made an error and the buyer changed their mind? Someone’s bid on it so I’m curious how it goes this time around.

Oh that’s interesting. I had posted that I didn’t bid because according to my visual measurements those diamonds didn’t look like 3mm. Now she is saying 2.8 but they could really be 2.5 and that obviously makes a huge difference in carat weight and value.
