Songs that mention sparklies - let's make a PS playlist!

Beat me to it! Love this whole album. :kiss2:

Another oldie but goodie:

“Just an Old Fashioned Girl”
by Eartha Kitt
I like the old fashioned flowers, violets are for me
Have them made in diamonds by the man at Tiffany
I want an old fashioned house, with an old fashioned fence
And an old fashioned millionaire

American land by Bruce
relatively newish
tons of fun
serouse point

What is this land of America, so many travel there
I'm going now while I'm still young, my darling meet me there
Wish me luck my lovely, I'll send for you when I can
And we'll make our home in the American land
Over there all the woman wear silk and satin to their knees
And children dear, the sweets, I hear, are growing on the trees
Gold comes rushing out the river straight into your hands
If you make your home in the American land
There's diamonds in the sidewalks, there's gutters lined in song
Dear, I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long
There's treasure for the taking, for any hard working man
Who will make his home in the American land
I docked at Ellis Island in a city of light and spire
I wandered to the valley of red-hot steel and fire
We made the steel that built the cities with the sweat of our two hands
And I made my home in the American land
There's diamonds in the sidewalk, there's gutters lined in song
Dear I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long
There's treasure for the taking, for any hard working man
Who will make his home in the American land
The McNicholas, the Posalski's, the Smiths, Zerillis too
The Blacks, the Irish, Italians, the Germans and the Jews
The Puerto Ricans, illegals, the Asians, Arabs miles from home
Come across the water with a fire down below
They died building the railroads, worked to bones and skin
They died in the fields and factories, names scattered in the wind
They died to get here a hundred years ago, they're dyin' now
The hands that built the country were always trying to keep down
There's diamonds in the sidewalk, there's gutters lined in song
Dear I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long
There's treasure for the taking, for any hard working man
Who will make his home in the American land
Who will make his home in the American land
Who will make his home in the American land

(the Zerillis's are his mom's Italian family)

i can't help but think about those poor people who died in that truck this week :(2

Pretty much every hip hop and rap song ever, but also:

Rihanna “Shine Bright Like a Diamond”
Beyoncé “Put a Ring On It”
Prince “Diamonds and Pearls”
Gucci Mane “Big Boy Diamonds”
B.G. & Cash Money “Bling Bling”. (This last one being what popularized the term “bling” among the masses and not just the hip hop community)

about not wearing a ring

i really love this one

"Well now our old fears and failures
Baby, they do linger
Like the shadow of that ring
That was on your finger
Those days they've come and gone
Baby, I could walk you all the way home"

Candy's room
ive been fortunate enough to get this live
one of my favourites
Candy may be a prostitute ???
Bruce says this song is about sex
its fast and quite short

She has fancy clothes and diamond rings
She has men who give her anything she wants, but they don't see
That what she wants is me

I don’t recommend looking up the lyrics if you are not generally into rap because they are explicit and not for everyone but Jay-Z’s “Dead Presidents II”

“In due time when crime flees my mind
All sneak thieves and player haters can shine
But until then, I keep the trilliant cut diamonds shinin' brilliant
I'll tell you half the story, the rest you fill it in”

On a side note, I have always seen it spelled trillion but trilliant is a variant spelling and also acceptable.

oh no
i can't help myself now
im in the front row

this tour every stop Bruce did a local cover
ours was Royals
(which thank goodness had been in the news a few weeks earlier othewise i wouldn't have known it at all

he changed a few words to make this work
long ago i was the next big thing
and referimg to himself as King B
honestly it was priceless
everently Lord was so overjoyed to know he had covered her song she cried from happiness

Oh man oh man oh man.

Talk about “making a song your own.” Hearing Bruce sing that song - it’s almost like I’ve never heard Royal before. I love the original, but Bruce’s rendition really brings those lyrics to life.

Thanks for posting that, @Daisys and Diamonds

OMG, Daisy, that man is perfect.
No wonder you love him so much!

"Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be Cowboys" - Waylon and Willie

Cowboys ain't easy to love. And they're harder to hold. They'd rather give you a song. Than diamonds or gold.

Oh man, so many good ones!

Hamilton, “My Shot.”
I’m a diamond in the rough, a shiny piece of coal …
I am an unabashed fan of this soundtrack!

“That Song About the Midway.”

I met you on the midway at a fair last year
And you stood out like a ruby in a Black man’s ear
You were playin’ on the horses, you were playin’ on the guitar strings
You were playin’ like a devil wearing wings…

Written by Joni Mitchell, but I’m partial to Bonnie Raitt’s version.

What a fun idea! I'm adding a few here:

"Diamonds" - Sam Smith
"Adventure of a Lifetime" - Coldplay

So here's a question. In Nelly's "Ride with Me", there's this line:

Shorty wanna see the ice, then I ice the wrist

I always thought it meant he's going to buy his lady a tennis bracelet. But my husband who is more worldly than me swears its a reference to crystal meth.

What do y'all think? If its diamonds, I'll put it on the playlist.

Tom Waits, Diamond in Your Mind

Chorus:
Always keep a diamond in your mind
Always keep a diamond in your mind
Wherever you may wander, wherever you may roam
Always keep a diamond in your mind

"Luckenbach, Texas" - Waylon and Willie

So baby let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society, you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

John Denver - Country Boy

Well I wouldn't trade my life for diamonds or jewels
I never was one of them money hungry fools
I'd rather have my fiddle and my farmin' tools
Thank God I'm a country boy

Mario- "Let Me Love You"

Baby I just don't get it
Do you enjoy being hurt?
I know you smelled the perfume,
The make-up on his shirt
You don't believe his stories
You know that they're all lies
Bad as you are, you stick around
And I just don't know why

If I was ya man (baby you'd)
Never worry bout (what I do)
I'd be coming home (back to you)
Every night, doin' you right
You're the type of woman (deserves good things)
Fist full of diamonds (hand full of rings)

Baby you're a star (I just want to show you, you are)
You should let me love you
Let me be the one to
Give you everything you want and need
Baby good love and protection
Make me your selection
Show you the way love's supposed to be
Baby you should let me love you, love you, love you,
Love you yeah

Bruce Springsteen, Beautiful Reward:

Well I sought gold and diamond rings,
My own drug to ease the pain that living brings.
Walked from the mountain to the valley floor
Searching for my beautiful reward.
Searching for my beautiful reward.
