I need to finalize my songs by August 1st...I am having a band and so un-like a DJ we won''t be getting the EXACT song as we would have if a CD played the artist . This is the HARDEST thing for me...I like every song I hear...I cry to EVERY song...there are tooooo many options. My FI and I don''t have a "song"...well actually when we first started dating we always played Billy Joel "Piano man", so that is our song technically...but it is NOT a first dance song. I want Into the Mystic to be our first song but not sure if the band can play that the way I would like them to...and father/daughter songs- FORGET IT, I get hysterical listening to all of them...please help me..which do you like best?

Hmmm, that is tough ~ I''m the same way and tears just start streaming when I try to listen to songs and think of dancing w/ my cute little grandpa... For me personally, I prefer My Girl or In My Life. Mainly because I like oldies, I''m not a big fan of Forever Young and I''ve heard What a Wonderful World at no less than 8 of my friends weddings over the years so it''s just kind of lost any emotional effect or meaning for me from overuse...

Have you asked your dad what his preference is?
I personally like My Girl and In My Life. I really like What a Wonderful World as well, but, like teebee I''ve heard it used a few too many times.
Would you be less likely to sob uncontrollably to one or the other? Would that be a good or a bad thing?

Actually, I''m planning on using that myself, so I obviously think it''s the best choice.

My Girl is cute but since it''s more upbeat, you have to be a pretty good dancer.

Re: Into the Mystic... It''s so hard to copy Van, would it be possible for your first dance to be played off a CD and then have the band kick in? Actually, that''s the way I''ve seen it done for every wedding with band I''ve been to.

the song issue is my hardest wedding question- everything else I picked out easily and stayed happy w/my decision!!! My dad likes all the songs...that is the problem!!!!
