Speaking of holy grails...

Seriously that is insane. What a spectacular stone! I am SO JEALOUS! :)

I love the temp setting, too. Are you still planning to reset or have you come to love it as is?

Very pretty, the color is delightful, it really pulls you in.
The first one is mine a five stone which I really do love the overall look of.

any updates??? is this stone set yet? its absolutely stunning perfect size and color to show off that asscher shape i just read the thread through and was so excited to see the end product!

Thanks everyone!

It actually photographs a little more saturated than it is. The colour in the centre of the first two pics is closest to real life. I wanted a lighter Ceylon, so I could see the steps.

I had it put in the temp setting so I could wear it right away. And because it will be awhile before it's in a permanent setting (too many other projects already in the works).

I really enjoy being able to wear it and look at it lots. I don't love the temp setting at all (especially not the prongs!). But it does give me an idea of the finger coverage I would get with the tsav trillions. And it's helping me get used to the height, something I have to do with each new ring, especially in this carat size!
My first thought was that it was huge. But at arm's length it looks quite normal (on my large hand!).

I'll keep you posted! :)

That is an amazing ring.

Thank you so much!
I really enjoy it. Step cuts are fabulous!
The light performance and play of colour is so totally different than that of a brilliant cut diamond.

Cokitty -that's a beautiful five stone! Love the colour.

Truly love looking at this sapphire PG!!! This is my holy grail color too! Between you and Chrono with her spinel :lickout: Oh my goodness!

Thanks! I've worn it every day since it was set!

Now that I've got my flower ring done, I'm starting to think about a proper setting for my sapphire again.

Here's another option (instead of the tsavorite three stone idea).

With rb orange diamond side stones!

Thoughts?

I've picked out the sides. Turns out orange is harder to get than yellow.
My stones are the two smallest in the pic. I went for colour over size. And I wanted a really golden yellow (vs lemon or more greenish tones).

It'll be beautiful! What metal will you use?

ok I am late here - but Periwinklegirl, can you tell me what those stones are? they look very good for a 7-stone I have in mind! and who are they from?

They're fancy vivid yellow diamonds. Apparently it's quite hard to get matched pairs in the higher saturation.

Thanks Rosebloom,
I'm thinking a white metal. I usually go with white gold, but this time I'm thinking palladium. It would be nice to have an everyday ring that I don't keep having to get replated. And apparently platinum gets dull over time.

Gorgeous rounds. Buy them all!

Wow, those stones are lovely - intense saturation!

Inspired by Rosebloom's idea and carefully following pregcurious and Chrono's advice about saturation and tone, I've acquired two 1 ct tsavorite trillions! As soon as I saw them next to the sapphire I thought, this is it!

So here they are. Now how to set them? What would emphasize the asscher shape? Bezel around the asscher and prongs for the sides?

Thoughts?

I'm grateful for any advice!

How about in a "cigar band", something like this, with diamonds and in WG?

Late to this thread, however, how about this setting as seen on ERD's website?

DK :))

Hi DK,
Thanks so much for your thoughts. The ERD design is lovely.
I ended up going in a different direction and am not going to set this with tsavs after all.
And I'm going to stay away from a halo for this ring, partly because I already have two, and partly because it's a whole 10mm across. I just think it would be too showy for everyday wear with the added oomph of a halo setting.
Also, I suppose I'm used to the plainer (or barer) look of the temp setting.
Thanks and I'll keep you posted.
I'm getting some setting quotes now, but it looks like the setting will be next year.

Thanks minou! And Chrono. Don't think I'm not tempted!

So for those of us easily confused (yep, me), can you offer a recap of what you've decided and the direction you'll be headed for the setting? I just love to drool... :cheeky:

After almost a year of wearing this along in its temp setting, I've decided that it stands alone best. I'm not going to have any side stones with it. I still like the trellis setting with double claw prongs though.
I'll keep you posted.
