Hi all,
My fiance and I are having an ering made that is going to be two tone, and last night he mentioned that the white part is going to be stainless. I've never heard of this before - could anyone offer advice as to whether this is standard/okay or if there is any reason to be concerned? I can't say that I have any particular reason to be concerned other than that I haven't been able to find any info/other examples of this being done via google search.
If it helps, this is what I know of the ring. It'll be a split shank pear design sort of similar to this from HK jewelers but with more side stones:http://www.hkjewellery.co.uk/images/Rings/4078_2.jpg
The center will be a blue sapphire (I think it's about 2.25 cts and they were asking about $2,500/ct) and there will be some white sapphire pave and possibly some white sapphires in the split in the shank (FI wanted a non-diamond ring). I think the halo part (or whatever has the pave) is what is going to be steel, and the rest should be yellow gold - I don't know exactly, it's meant to be somewhat of a surprise. Anyway, does stainless seem like a reasonable route to be going w this? Thanks!
