I had my first real wedding event Saturday. I attended my personal shower and had an absolute blast. Although, it was a little embarassing opening all that lingerie in front of everyone. You really learn a lot about a person in the type of lingerie they pick out

Then afterwards, my bridesmaids and I went out dancing.

Also, Fiance finally got our invitations designed last weekend and we were able to order the pocketfolds for those (sigh of relief since wedding is in 3 months!)

And after ordering a Flower girl dress off of ebay, getting the wrong one, and going round and round with the vendor...I finally got the correct one in the mail yesterday

I can post pics if anyone is interested.

Anyhow, just wanted to share my excitement :)

Ooh, I also forgot to mention that I have a consult with a makeup artist Saturday!

I''m interested!!

I''d love to see pics!

YAY!!! I''m feeling excited for you just reading your post! And knowing that mine is right around the corner too, the excitement is contagious!

Have you been in invitation-design hell too? We finally got our''s all out last week Tuesday, which is only 8 1/2 weeks before the wedding. Way too close for my comfort! But we''re already getting RSVP''s back and it brings a smile to my face every time I walk in the door at the end of my very long days. Before long you''ll be getting those RSVP''s too!!

Here is a picture of me with one of my gifts :)

and then later that night my bridesmaids and I went out

I don't know why the pics from the shower are so grainy and dark, I suspect the person who was using my camera may have fiddled with the settings. Anyhow, I will also post the invite fiance designed.

Here are the invites we have settled on. The first one he did was with the pink pocketfold. While we like that, the colors seemed to Easter-y for us. So I had him pull some colors from a picture of my bouquet and the ones in the green pocketfold is what resulted. We will be using the green pocket fold in the same style as the pink one (didn''t have any in green samples to use, so we had to improvise to get an idea of the look). And I think we have decided to use the white calla invite. He has added the pink calla to the edge of my rsvp postcard, so if that prints okay and doesn''t look too busy we will probably go with that. What do you all think? Any suggestions?

Oh I love the invites!!! I like the white callas the best - I understand what you''re saying about the Easter appearance w/ all the colors

Isn''t it weird when it all starts to ''happen''??? I woke up the other morning thinking about what all needed to be done... Then I was like "HOLY CRAP I''m getting married!!"

It wasn''t a bad or good feeling, just reality!!

I picked up my mom in Tulsa yesterday and from there we drove to Fayetteville to talk to the DJ and order the cakes (and or course sample them!!! YUM!!!). It was only 2 things checked off of my list but somehow I feel much less panicky now that they are done...

Oh, is Slow Duck still Slow Duck? I remember it was Gray Snail for a while... just curious, I always call things by their old names anyhow - but my shower is in Tulsa next weekend and we will probably go out afterwards (one of my old old friends from middle school is coming up from Dallas to the shower - haven''t seen her since we were in 7th grade wearing plaid skirts & dorky sailor shirts!!) to celebrate a little... and trying to think of fun places to go...

I know what you mean Teebee- I get all excited everytime I get to mark something off of my to-do list. Even if it is only one or two things. It really is a matter of the reality of it setting in. Before everything felt like I was working (reading contracts, meeting with vendors, etc), but now it has really hit me as a real tangible thing.

Slow Duck is actually still Gray Snail (but still the same scene). I rebel against the new names. Especially when it is something that has been there for a while before changing. I still call Bru House the Blue Rose :) And this is bad, but the other day I was talking to FI about Suede and called it Concessions. I guess I will never change...especially when it comes to the Brookside area :)

How fun about your shower next weekend. Have you checked the Urban Tulsa to see what''s going on that night? I will take a look and see if anything looks promising or any good bands playing. The only warning I would give is do not go to Club Fusion. I haven''t been, but it is supposedly the new "it" club in Tulsa. Anyhow, there was a shooting there last weekend. We were actually going to go there to try it out (well, we were mostly interested in the free beer until 10), but come to find out there was a pissed off patron that went to his car Thurs or Fri, came back and took a shot at the bouncer. As far as I know, he has not been caught.

OMG, that is too funny!! Concessions.... good times....

I was just talking with one of my friends last week about that place, and Slow Duck, Blue Rose, and that place that was right across the street - the Brink? the Drink? I think it was both at one time or another...

Is Fusion downtown? And what is the deal with all the club shootings in Tulsa over the last few years??? It just seems like ever since they started opening up a night scene in downtown, bouncers are getting shot or beat up by people they kicked out or wouldn''t let in...

I very briefly glanced at Urban Tulsa online this morning - didn''t see anything promising yet but it''s still early, maybe something good will show up next week... Funny thing is... I don''t recognize any of the bands anymore... and then I realize I''m no longer 23...

Okay, so I just checked UT again & saw the Plumbers - so some things never change.

Club Fusion is at 16th and Sheridan, I believe. It seems like such an odd area for a dance club.

Yep, the Plumbers are still a big one. They were playing last Saturday when we went to the Duck. Univited Guest is still around and tends to be a good fun cover band too as well as Full Flava Kings. Remember that the UT comes out on Tuesdays. So you may want to wait until Tues or Wed to check again to see what is going on this weekend. I am sure you guys will have no matter where you go. Getting everyone together and seeing some old friends will create a good time anywhere.
