I did read that story. It made me so sad that someone had to suffer through a heartbreak during the Christmas season. I felt so bad for the anonymous guy. And shame on the other guy for waiting so long before reporting it to the police, but I guess it''s good that his conscience won out in the end.

And the reason the man waited four days to report it to the police is because he didn''t believe it was real. He finally brought it to a jeweler who not only confirmed it was real, but also appraised it at $15,000. That''s when he called police.
 
why are we assuming the person who left the ring is a man? Seems to me just as, if not more likely it would be a woman. If the fiance broke up with her, she would keep the ring.. but probably not wear it.. If it was a man and the ring was returned to him.. he''d probably pawn it.. (OK.. that was MEAN.. sorry guys..) but still.. you see the point, I''m sure.

MS, I totally agree with you! I have been wondering why even the news media have been calling this person a man. I think it could go either way.
