Suggestions for pendant setting

Hi PSers

I just bought a lovely Sphene that I want to set. I figure a pendant is the way to go, because I'm always on the go running after two little ones, and don't want the stone to get damaged.

I bought it because it seemed like a great deal, I was intrigued by the dispersion, and it was on the yellower end of the spectrum. The size, cutting and dispersion did not let me down. It sparkles beautifully, but I was on the fence about keeping it. The color ended up looking more orange / brown than it did on my screen. After putting some thought into it, I kept it. The dispersion was just too awesome for me to part with it, and even my husband was wowed when he first saw it.

Now I want to find a way to wear it. I'd like to choose a metal that could play up the yellow. I typically wear yellow gold, but something tells me if I set this in yellow, it will look wrong. I have no problems with silver or white gold. What type of pendant setting would allow the maximum light in while still protecting the stone? ISince this purchase wasn't really in the budget, I should try to keep the cost of the setting as reasonable as possible. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very very welcome!

(Forgive the quality of my photo, it was taken on a last generation iPad -- the stone looks much nicer in person)

Nestle the sphene in a pile of gold chain to see the effect.
Then switch it out to white gold jewellery.
Then place the sphene on a rosy pinkish penny.

Whichever looks best to you will be your answer.
