Hello, I am a new member and I have been reading your threads with interest. I was initially looking for a large aquamarine to have a cocktail/statement ring made but couldn't seem to find one with the right colour for the right price... I wanted one with a blue-green tint, not too light. In the end I instead bought a 12,96 ct blue-green tourmaline from AJS gems and I would like to have it set either in white or rose gold. For the moment I am leaning towards rose. The stone measures 18.80 x 12.20 x 8.28 mm and I am thinking a simple four prong (solitaire) setting but would appreciate any input from you CS experts. Thanks!

So a basket style or cathedral style? Custom or stock setting? Accent diamonds or all metal? I think rose gold is a good choice for the colour of your tourmaline too. :))

Ditto what Chrono said. Rose gold. That will make some honker of a ring! Are you Elizabeth Taylor in disguise? =)

Yep, Liz is my middle name!

I want a simple setting that brings out the stone and lets as much light as possible come through it, no extra stones.

I hope it won't be too big. I first bought an 8,35 carat aquamarine (see photos) and I thought I could go bigger than that...

I bought the aqua on auction (from Thailand) on eBay and right now it is off to be tested to find out if it is really an aquamarine. It is very light in colour, which is why I was looking for something else with stronger hue. Just hope that the tourmaline will not turn out to be too dark. I haven't received it yet.

Draw out the size on a piece of paper, cut it out and wear it to see if the size seems reasonable on your finger.
