I just got word that we have a two hour delay so I have time to actually log on and browse a bit before heading to work. I''m wondering how summer brides are doing and what progress has been made in planning. What do you have left to do?

My FI, his best man, and my dad are going to look at suits this weekend but we''re all clueless about what to look for. Hmmm, I think that''s a topic for another thread.

I have an appt. with our florist in March and we''ll figure out flowers, etc. at that point.

I made an appt. with a third seamstress and this is the one who will do my dress alterations. I had made appts. with two other but this third one came highly recommended by the bridal salon staff so I''ll trust their judgement. I found a great shawl, very lightweight and it will cover my upper arms, which I''ve been concerned about. I had bought a wrap in the same champagne color as my dress'' sash but it wasn''t the most practical. I found the shawl and knew it would look great and would make me not so self-conscious. Even better, it was more expensive than the wrap but the salon didn''t charge me extra when I returned the wrap.

We ordered invitations from our printer and I can''t wait to get them in. We''ll probably send them out in early May (our wedding is in mid-July).

A few family members have begun booking their hotel rooms and my parents actually got a suite for my FI and I at the same hotel. Yay!

We made an appt. to plan our ceremony with our new officiant in the spring. Our first officiant had a conflict and she recommended someone she works with occasionally.

We finally decided on a restaurant for the rehearsal dinner. This took FOREVER to do.

I''ve contacted the salon my sister and I will use and have made appts. for us to get our hair, makeup, and nails done. I still need to schedule an appt. to do a practice session (this has a name but I can''t think of it...trial?).

We''ve canceled our plans for a Portugal honeymoon and we booked a hotel in QC instead. It''s going to be much less expensive and still a very romantic destination.

I think we''re at the point now of waiting for a lot to happen in the coming months. I now see why there''s such a rush of things to get done in the months immediately before someone''s wedding. Lots of little things to do.

Hi Anchor,

You''ve been very busy!

Yep, our wedding is on July 12th. You know we''re planning on coming up your way for our honeymoon, right? We''re staying near the Fontenac and we''re so excited to go back to QC. We''ve only been once and it was for just one or two days. The good part is that we''ll have our car with us so we can pretty much go anywhere in the surrounding areas.

Mexico sounds wonderful! I''m sure you''ll have a great time! It''ll definitely be a lot warmer than CAN in the winter! Brrrrr........

Wow anchor, you have been working hard. My date is the same as yours and I''ve only done the few things highlighted. I hope to have the photog booked soon...just waiting for a contract. We''re in marriage prep classes right now (2 down, 6 more sessions to go.)

Your list has now become my checklist

Thanks for bringing this up, Zoe! I debated about chiming in since I don't feel like I've gotten very far with things and am getting frustrated, but I decided it would be good for me to try to list things out and actually see it in writing. I will follow teetee's lead and piggyback on anchor's list...I hope you don't mind, girls!

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but I just can't think of anything else right now. Seeing this list has me freaking out a little bit...ruh roh!

It''s amazing how many details are still up in the air, considering how much time we''ve spent planning. I know I''m not alone in feeling that way, which is good to realize.

We''re going to look at suits this weekend (did I mention that already?).

We still need to:

* Find things for welcome bags and put the bags together (this won''t be done until June, most likely, or maybe even the first week in July)
* Contact Bruce Boone and order my FI''s wedding band (the "Scoop")
* Find people who we''d like to do a reading or two and ask them if they''d like to participate.
* Plan the ceremony (I might have mentioned this too, sorry, I forget)
* Find shoes and undergarments
* Get alterations done (an appt. has been made)
* Contact my eye doctor to see about getting contacts to use temporarily
* Buy something for our parents (for my parents, we''re thinking of getting them a gift certificate for a weekend away at a hotel in Maine -- one of their favorite get-aways in recent years but we have no idea what to do for my FI''s parents)

Should we buy a gift for those who do readings? I''ve already gotten my sister a necklace, which I gave her on Christmas. I''m not sure what we''ll do for the best man but I''ll let my FI handle that one.

I know there are other things I''m not thinking of at the moment but it does help to get it down in writing all in one place.

I''m glad to hear that progress is being made girls. Everyone''s on a roll now!!
